Clay's zen of two-toned stripes: Classics Thundercracker

Postby clay » Mon Aug 20, 2007 6:55 pm

Still working on it, but here's Thundercracker so far. It's a commission piece for someone else, but it may be ages before I get around to making one for myself.

I am pleased with how well the stripes on the wings came out, but the torso piece is a finicky piece to paint. Win some, lose some.

Very nice stripes clay. They almost look like decals. The light over dark grey looks good too.

Looks great, although I will NEVER understand using Gloss paint on a military aircraft, yah I know blue is upsured enough, but doesnt glossy paint chip easier?

Nice the blue looks like it is the plastics normal color.

What is wrong with your hand though it looks painful.

Gloss paint is harder and stronger than matte paint, so no, it should not chip easier. In fact, matte finish paints are more likely to come off because they are much softer and less durable.

What will cause a paint to chipp more easily is not letting it cure long enough, and applying too thick a coat.
