Got some goodies yesterday.
Waruders showed up in the mail. I had forgotten they were inbound. Prime was a total plastic crack head impulse buy.

Waruder Raptor HEad.

These guys are Cray-Z! Can't wait to combine them with the other Waruder suits. The combinations are endless! It's gonna be NUTTZ!

So pleasantly surprised how much I like this Prime. I always thought he was a neat looking toy, but was on the fence about whether or not I picked him up. Great transformation. Cool looking bot mode with just the right amounts of traditional and movie madness. A few nits to pick, but nothing that ruins the fun.

Nice Marauders! Those things look so slick. Do they have pilots in them like the other Diaclone guys, or are they actually tentacled machines?
Nice Prime, Glad you are enjoying him. I was listening to the Podcast where you talked about that figure, so how does he compare to what you said back 2 months ago?

The Tyranny of The Tyrant!
- Motto: "Free your mind, and your ass will follow!"

So, I've got an Iron Factory bug up my butt. I have been waiting for their Mirage called Phantom, to drop. I pre-ordered him back in January. He was due to release in Feburary, but he's been pushed back to March, and he's still not in. In my excitment (or OCD) for him I had been looking at pics of him. Which led to looking at other awesome Iron Factory toys. Which led to this.
IF EX-36 the Tyrant

HOLY SCRAP! This guy is amazing!
Look at all this stuff!!

So his whole deal is, is that he comes with all these great accessories so you can make him into the 4 major iterations of IDW's Megatrons. Now I'm not a huge IDW fan. Not because I don't like it. I'm really in all of this for the toys, so the way I see it is, money spent on comics is money I could spend on toys. I like a lot of the art we saw come out of IDW so that all has translated well in 3D form. But, what I really like is Iron Factories sculpts. And Tyrant here is yet another artfully sculpted, and fantastically built transforming Legends scale action figure in a long line of really cool toys from Iron Factory.
Lets go through all his different looks.
First is Origin.

They are going for the pre-war, pre-leader of the Cons look here.
I know he was a miner bot, but was he also a gladiator at some point?

Up next is Infiltration.

So each character mode has a different arm cannon, that can be used in tank mode.

Love this head sculpt, or helmet sculpt I should say. Very IDdubs.
Can anyone tell me if that's a Milne design?

Then there's Monstrosity.

We've swapped out the leg panels, hip panels, head, shoulders, and cannon, and are pushing our way closer to a traditional G1 look.

And last, All Hail.

Obviously his most MTMTE/G1 look. Here, we've kept all the G1y pieces, and swapped the front treads out for a super classic gun barrel back.

While he looks awesome dressed like this, the only down side to this mode is he can't transform.
Really! Such an awesome little toy. Iron Factory really takes Legends scale to a whole new level. One could even go as far as to say, to where the rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble! (Nate Dawg, WTF does that even mean, dude?)
In the beginning, IF's alt modes were pretty questionable, but they are really starting to make better transformations and alt modes. The transformation is more involved than your average mainline official Legend, and smart and fun too! And again, I go gah-gah for their designs. I know they are all heavily influenced by IDW, but they put their own unique spin on things that results in an aesthetic I am finding I can't get enough of. And, and, this plastic they use for their figures just can't be beat. Always with this really nice matte finish. It's almost like it's sand blasted.
With this awesome look, construction, and all these freaking accessories, it all adds up to a superb package.

DIE AUTOBOTS!!!

Well.... so much for scale.
Golly I still love that Magnus though. My first ever Iron Factory dude.
And here he is building his Legends scale forces.

Well, well, well! Who are these Boneheads?
Those are Mech Fans Toys F-02, Overlord in the Air set. KO's of DX9's War in Pocket Coneheads. They're pretty nice. The only bummer, and it's on me for not doing my due diligence, is they are over sized. They are about 3/4 to inch taller than the WiP originals.
I ordered them the same time I ordered this big guy...

Good stuff! Dayum that Megatron is boss... literally
One of these days I have to make the mistake of getting a IF figure. I do have the OS KO of Six Shot. Looses a few points because the size novelty is gone.
You have a very nice legend 'Con army there

Dang Cobs, that is a lot of bang for the buck! It looks so good! Iron Factory makes some great stuff, still haven't jumped on any, and the only one I did try for was Windblade, but that was an Ebay scam sadly. but it's only a matter of time, I'm really thinking about that next Ultra Magnus AKA Minimus Maximus!
As for the looks:
-Origin is his miner/gladiator phase from Megatron Origins. It was a Milne design.
-Infiltration was his look when he first appeared in IDW all the way back, you see it best in Infiltration and Stormbringer. That was E.J. Su's design.
-Monstrosity is a form from a comic set during the early phases of the war when Megatron was overthrown by Scorponok and marooned on a violent and hostile Junkion. That was a Livio Ramondelli look.
-All Hail is his G1 gun mode look from All Hail Megatron. That was a Guido Guidi look.
Dunno if any of that will mean anything to you, but figured you might find it cool!
So, which one of the 4 is your favorite?

Thanks D!
And when I asked those questions, I should have just addressed you directly because I knew, and hoped, you would answer.
I'm familiar with enough of those artists, that it does help. And it is cool.
I'll have to do some image Googling just to compare and contrast, and see how they measure up.

You know, I haven't tried that yet, but I'm guessing the compatibility between the two is minimal.carytheone wrote:Those are some creepy looking things. Nice fight pose!

Now you have me thinking. It would have been really cool if they had developed a universal system for Diaclone. You know, like the did 40 years ago with the 5mil P&P system that Takara invented that tied all their toy lines together?
