It would have been nice to see a giant city Transformer in the Movie like towering over the other Transformers it would have made an epic battle e.g.

Metroplex/omega supreme versus giant Trypticon/Tidal Wave monster they could both turn into Aircraft carriers or something.

Unreleased figures/never made characters went wrong (Wheeljack etc. unreleased at mass retail, Dino never getting a Deluxe or larger toy).

Shrinking the figures went wrong (though engineering was awesome on a lot of the DoTM figures).

Mechtech went wrong, horribly horribly wrong. Cool idea and all, but sad execution. Those things are way too big and blocky to take seriously.

Never releasing all 3 Wreckers in the same format (weaponized/not weaponized, Human Alliance etc.).

Same as with every movie line: BUMBLEBEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Again, same as with every movie line: OPTIMUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS!!!!!!!!.

Megatron never got a Voyager or larger figure.

Never got all 3 Dreds in Deluxe size with the same vehicle mode but different bot modes like in the movie.

That's about all I can think of offhand.

MechTech weapons with the spring-loaded features should have only been used with the Voyagers and Leaders IMO. They were more to scale with the larger figures. If the Deluxes got MechTech weapons at all they should have been much smaller manually operated (I.E. slide a part down or twist a part) weapons with more simplistic mechanisms and less plastic, thus allowing the figures to maintain more of their proper sizing. With the exception of a few such as Roadbuster and Topspin who have much more to scale weapons I don't even display the MechTech on my Deluxes, but have redistributed them to other Movieverse Voyagers that did not get hand-held weapons.

Yep, I meant for DoTM (I have the RotF Leader and I LOVE that thing). Didn't realize he got a Voyager though (I have that version, but I always thought it was a Deluxe for some reason, though the size of the packaging should have tipped me off, stoopid DoTM downsizing :P).

VOYAGER megatron, perfectly in scale with DELUXE Optimus Prime...
Yeah, tiny Megs is tiny.

Megs is a good kind of tiny, makes him in-scale with a lot of figures: Deluxe Optimus, Bonecrusher, Brawl, Legends Soundwave, Barricade... and technically Leader Starscream. He's bigger than most, but not stupidly so.
Image
I do wish his arms and head were larger, though. Or his legs not so chunky.

I think what went wrong was Hasbro didn't put much effort or thought into it. Making a leader class Bumblebee instead of Megatron or Shockwave was a dumb idea. Not releasing Wheeljack, Leadfoot, and Soundwave sooner was a dumb idea. I think the figures were fine, Hasbro just half-assed getting them out.

Yeah, the line did seem to be rushed. Get it out ASAP and damn the consequences, as it were.

First of all, they gave us 6 cast characters without toys. 7 if you count driller. It's just that we didn't get 3 of them when Hasbro pranced it in our faces. I remind;

* We got no Dino
* We got no Brains (backfiring unintentional pun)
* We got no Wheelie
* Again, no Driller

Honestly, even though some people thing most of the line sucks, I think Prime's a better replacement. If DOTM went on a year longer, we wouldn't have the Prime line yet, and we're halfway into Season 2. I think they still could've released the FEs and the Unreleased Trio of DOTM, but a year would be too long.

I'm always into the upcoming and new lines. Right now I could give less than a crap about DOTM.

Although they gave us some great G1 homages.

Well I for one could list many ways that Hasbro and Takara messed up the DOTM line.

As we all know too well with most of the Movie lines, we had way too many fricken versions of Bumblebee...AAAAHHHH!!!

Also, why in Holy Hell would Takara/Hasbro make 4 or 5 different versions of DOTM Leader Optimus, and not Give us one damn version of DOTM Leader Megatron? Oh yea, I remember, cheap ass mold reuse...AAAHHHH!!!

Last part of my rant is why in the F@$! would they give us only 2 of the 3 HA Wrecker, and only make TopSpin in deluxe size, and then only release deluxe Leadfoot in Japan where they don't even have the license for Target logo...AAAAHHHH!!!!

Ok, I am done ranting. Wow I feel better...LOL.

Ok I am not really this pissed, but just expressing what a lot of people on these forums felt about the DOTM. It was definitely a licensing and marketing SNAFU.

Let's get it right this time Takara/Hasbro. You have some great multiverse material to work with now, and if you take your over paid toy marketing team and get them on line with the numerous forums out there on that thing called the World Wide Web, they might just catch a clue as to what will sell, and sell well. :BOT: :BOT: :CON: :CON:

they used the Michael Bay's Transformers A Film By Michael Bay movie designs instead of Transformers designs? ;)

I mostly kid.

You didn't even mention the worst part! Two of the main onscreen charcters, Soundwave and Que NEVER EVEN SAW A RELEASE by Hasbro!

Which sucks SUCKS SUCKS because dotm Soundwave was one of the best movieverse molds by FAR. He looks SO DAMN GOOD. Yeah, he's a touch on the small side, but he just look sooooo good. /rant

Well, Legends Soundwave got released at least. Not to mention the others and Que and Leadfoot actually *exist*
Soundwave was undoubtedly held off because his alt was a pretty massive spoiler for the movie. From what I can tell Hasbro intended to release all of his toys in time for Christmas and the home-release of DotM, a completely reasonable move given the past movie lines's longevities. Que, Leadfoot, and the others were likely held off to keep interest in the line lasting longer, again banking on the idea the DotM line would stick around for a while. I mean, it was ludicrous to suggest the DotM line wouldn't even make it to Christmas even as late as November, yet just that happened.

'Course, I still think the Deluxe slots given to the Twins, Barricade, Jolt, a 2nd BB, and, heck, Starscream and another Ratchet should have gone to guys like Brains, Crowbar, Hatchet, and Mirage.
