I'm guessing no one knows who kamina is. I look at it this way, Kamina despite dying and staying dead left a better legacy than Goku.

Goku brought together and inspired a bunch of fighters who at best could hold off a villain until he turns up. Kamina inspired people who exceeded him and went on to go crush an interdimenional empire along with time and space itself.

Then Goku turned the next bigger threat into it's new defender (Buu) (as far as I'm concerned, GT never happened...)
