There is a program that will delete deleted info off your computer, strange i know, but when you delete something, Windows more or less hides that file till its written over, this takes up quite a bit of disk space, all this program does is remove all that info clearing up your disk.
Its called Disk Redactor, and its dead simple to set up and use, and its quite a small program too.
All you do is download and install it, then your ready to clear your disk, open it up, then just click "Select Disk" and select the drive you want wiped, and make sure the second and last check boxes are marked (only mark the first if you want to really make sure all the info is gone for good), then hit wipe disk.
It will NOT remove files you want, only the files you have deleted (the files you remove from the recycle bin), and its freeware, so its free (truly free, not a trial or demo).
Find more info on this program and download it, here.
Though its a good idea to run this program after you have deleted files to the recycle bin, then empted the bin, and defragmented the disk, and used the disk cleanup feature.
Also it might be good for you to format your disk to the NTFS format if you haven't already, its faster and more secure than the FAT and FAT32 formats that most disks use, and you can compact the disk to save space, and its quite easy to do, follow the easy instructions, here.

Thank you!
No probs, its nice to know i can help, anything to make windows work better really helps.
And if all this still doesn't help make windows faster and clear up disk space, you can try a Windows registry cleaner, I don't know any freeware or opensource options, but there is Registry mechanic, its not free, but it works. if you want it, PM me! OR if you download it using Free Download Manager you can find some codes for it in the opinions option!

I've got about ten gigs of Gundam. I could have more, I just choose not to right now.

Bigger hard drives: The solution to everything.
And no, a big hard drive does NOT mean you're compensating for something. It means that exact opposite.

also defrag your hard drive on a semi regular basis.

Need to remember this, I've got only two gigs left on a 20gig hard drive and that may be the problem, especially since my anti-virus keeps finding The SIMS on my computer, even though I uninstalled that games years ago.

Well forget about Registry mechanic, I've found a freeware option thats better.
Its called Ccleaner (formerly Crap cleaner), and it actually does more than cleaning your registry (and it does that well).
It can clean a lot of crap from your comp, temp files, including other programs temp files, IE and Firefox/Mozilla temp files, and also it removes other programs (saves you clicking your way to the windows Add/Remove program function).
Read more about Ccleaner and download it, here.
