Identifying Henkei/classics and Beast Wars knockoffs.

Reposted from the Transformers Toys Board;

My transformers collection is mostly composed of Beast Wars and a few Classics/Henkei. Recently, I have seen several posts/websites around the net mentioning about the existence of knockoffs, such as this Henkei Convoy review for example; http://edriasandika.wordpress.com/2013/ ... -prime-ko/

Which toys/characters from the Beast Wars Telemocha and the Classics/Henkei lines are confirmed to have bootlegs? also, I have heard of some bootlegs that are almost identical to the actual stuff, but have not seen pictorial examples on their boxes.

Do the bootlegs from the Telemocha line have the DVD's included as well?

I'd love to see whatever you can share folks. I am quite inexperienced in this department. Though there are obvious bootlegs, the fact that not-so-obvious ones exist concern me and I am still in the process of slowly increasing my collection.

I can confirm that henkei Convoy has gotten the KO treatment. As for BW, not quite sure if its popular enough to get the KO love.

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
Classics Starscream, Mirage, and their recolors. I think the Coneheads as well. But the good news is that it's relatively easy to get the recently released Asian exclusive ACE and ELITE sets to get all 6 of the Decepticon jets.

to my knowledge, lots of henkeis, no beast wars.

henkei/classics molds:

optimus prime- henkei chrome, blue diaclone, purple shattered glass, united black convoy, ultra magnus hasbro, ultra magnus henkei chrome

rodimus- henkei wildrider, black shattered glass

lambor- sideswipe, sunstreaker, G1 breakdown, G2 breakdown, clampdown, punch/counterpunch

starscream- henkei, black death, black chrome, silver chrome, gold chrome, ghost
tc & sw- henkei and ghost for each
other non coneheads- yellow sunstorm, orange sunstorm, generic purple, rainmakers (bright yellow, green & blue), ghost rainmakers
coneheads- henkei and ghost for all three

mirage- clear henkei, clear blue botcon

as far as packaging goes, some of these actually dont have any. in rodimus' case, wildrider has none while shattered glass roddy does but its nothing official looking. punch has a very official looking box, but clearly states CHMS in the bottom left corner. and to my knowledge all the seekers have official looking packages but clearly state CHMS where the has/tak stamp would be.

i think the only CHMS's that are difficult to identify are the henkei(ganbo?) coneheads dirge and thrust. they have official looking packages and actually have the has/tak stamp. only way to ID them is to open and examine the figures themselves.

There are TONS of Beast Wars KOs, but as far as I know, aside from a few of the early basics figures, the vast majority are wildly different from their official counterparts in size or color or both and I've never seen any KO Beast Wars figures that had packaging even remotely resembling any legit/official product/release.

agreed.
perhaps i should have clarified... theres no official looking beast wars KO's (or counterfeit) that you need to worry about. just the regular garish colored nonsensically packaged KO's that exist for most other TF's.

hm... Just brought a Henkei Ramjet loose off ebay. seller clearly states that it is not a KO. Is there anyway to check? any differnces bwt reglar and KO version? I'm sure once I have it in hand (it's on the way) I can tell (I've had KO Henkei skywarp and it's pretty easy to tell it's a KO from the face.) But I've never seen any info on KO Ramjet. well Let me know if you do.

thanks

there was a page i saw once showing in great detail the way to spot (on the figures themselves) the differences between the thrust and dirge knockoffs. but it didnt include any other seekers since the packaging had tell tale signs of KO'iness before them (or no packaging at all). and sorry, i tried a few different searches and couldnt find the page again.

but as you said, in hand youll be able to tell quite easily.
