I borrowed KotOR offa my mate a while ago, and all was fine until today, when it started to randomly ignore my keyboard whilst in the undercity and the sewers. So I thought the easiest way to remidy that problem would be to get the update patches, which I did.
At first it completely lost my safe files.
So (a little peeved at this point) I started a new game. All wnt well, then I noticed it had found my savefiles again.
So I try and load them
It goes onto the loading screen, and the loading bar gets to roughly a third of the way along, then nothing.... the game does nothing. I can alt tab out of it and do anything else on the pc, but the game just stops.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and the problem persisted.
Tried starting a new game (incase it just didnt like me loading save files from the last instalation), the problem still persisted.
Tried loading ingame, the problem still persisted.
I would REALLY like to finish this game, so if anybody has any ideas AT ALL, I'd love to hear em.
It may help to mention Im using Vista.

Try ( as unfortunate as it may sound) uninstalling the game, deleting all the files in the install directory(savegames, and all that whatnot) I'd then try a scandisk to see if your harddrive may have a bad sector witch the came could be writing to, do a defrag, and antivirus scan (I've had viruses screw up my games before)
BUT before you do all of that... check the disk for scratches.
and don't worry too much about the previous saves; you mentioned you were in Undercity. soo you've yet to leave Taris, you're not even a quarter through the game yet so don't fret.
