Looking to Collect G1 on DVD

Weapon: Railgun
Lately I've been looking to start building up a library of Transformers on DVD. I want to work my way through G1 first and then proabably move on to the Unicron Trilogy.

Anyway, this whole things been percolating in the back of my head for a while, but I recently decided to check out Madman's ad that's off to right here. Unfortuantely, I didn't even know they where in Australia and so only have PAL DVDs. (They are, conviently, region free...)

Ideally, what I want is a nice collection of box sets (or a single box set). I want them in NTSC format and either Region 1 or Region X (no region). English language is a must and Japanese language would be a nice addition. (I've seen a complete set in Chinese/English for a decent price, but have no real interest in the Chinese.)

I guess the Madman offering would be good for viewing on the computer, but I prefer to watch my DVDs on a TV. (Besides as the show was produced in NTSC, framrate and resolution conversions make things messy.)

Also I've heard that Kid Rhino's remasters where done from preproduction masters, rather than the final masters and as a result have incomplet animation, animation errors, and missing special effects. I've also heard that the remastered sound tracks are greatly messed around with.

I hate that kind of stuff. I just wanna see it the way I remember them from my childhood. Can anyone give me a good recommendation?

Also, pointers to a retailer with good discount prices and reasonable shipping rates would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance.

I own the first two collections, Season 1 and Season 2 part 1. It ain't all that bad, the imperfections are there but tolerable, more or less exaggerated. And good luck in finding the Rhino set, they're so hard to find that

I thought MADMAN's REGION FREE Dvds means it can play on any DVD player from every country??? :???:

The Rhino Box sets are the ones I have and they are pretty good.

I have the Rhino sets and recently bought the Chinese set to compare quality.

The menus and such are better on the Rhino release. Color seems a tad brighter. There is some Chinese on a few bonus features menus (other menus have English), but otherwise the Chinese set is identical in 5.1 sound and video quality. The 5.1 audio is the same on both, but the Rhino offers original 2.0 sound (although I still hear some added effects).

My ultimate plan is to sell my Rhino G1 sets, keep the Chinese sets, and if the series gets released again within the next few years I will snatch it up.

I have Rhino's GI Joe sets up for sale too.

10% off for Seibertron.com members, just let me know at the end of the auction.

Your TVs don't convert between NTSC and PAL?

Wow. That must suck.

Because I know there is a boxset release here in Australia that is all the G1 DVDs which would be perfect for you.
