Just wondering if anyone has put any thought into improving MP 5 Megatron. I think that it's such a waste that he can't rotate at the waist. If only there was a way of transfering the whole arm mounting brackets to the upperbody so that it could swivel with the upperbody instead of stopping it from doing so.
Also, has anyone heard of something to replace the OVERSIZED cannon? Something a bit more to scale with the robot mode. I have already cut and moved the mounting plate to the side of the arm to allow some posability. Just wish it wasn't so damned big!

i got the idea when i had to take apart his hips to fix, when i got him oen of his pins had 2 holes drilled so it was moving arround,
the yellow bit is the pin it revolves on, the red bit is where to cut, the arms would then rotate with the torso and be seperate from the hips.
i havent tested it but i have taken apart the legs and hip and think it would work,

I took the hip apart today and I don't think it will work. Go ahead and remove the screw that holds the upperbody in place so you can see what I mean.
You see the "pin" you speak of isn't really. On the black (waist) side there is a wide cylindrical hole that has a toothed wheel with a hole in the middle, a spring to provide tension, and a screw to hold it together. The screw goes through to connect with another toothed wheel that comes out of the bottom of his midsection.
Because of the way the black (waist) piece is molded, you can't perform the cut you describe. The cylindrical hole described above isn't complete. Towards the forward part of it it opens up into a rectangular hole to allow the clasps from the lower waist to lock in place. If you make the cut it will compromise the integrity of the area. Even if you were able to remedy that somehow, I still dont think the cut would allow what we are looking for.
Clearly, Takara couldn't come up with a better design and we are left with a Megatron that not only can't rotate his hips, but falls apart rather easily at the crotch as well. Such is life.
If anyone else reads this and can think of something better let me know.

i took it apart and can see theproblem, but id still like to give it a go on a megatron if i can get one cheapish, im thinking of replacing the spring and mechanisum with a solid metal rod for the cut parts to rotate on
