I really hope it's a new character. That poster has some really weird choices on there, and I'd prefer a new Prime. He/She could be "The Arisen" in IDW and be brand new. I don't want to make any of these guys Prime.

Hate to break it to you, but they won't be a new character, given that the poster is on the Transformers Facebook page.


Of course, if you want a technical new character, you could go for Primal, since he hasn't appeared in IDW at all.

Following the big news that fans can vote for the next Prime, the Transformers Facebook page has posted a poster for the upcoming event! The new poster advertises the big question: Who's your Prime? and features 9 different character arts surrounding an image of Optimus Prime holding the matrix: Shockwave, Megatron, Arcee, Hound, Ultra Magnus, Optimus Primal, Star Saber, Thunderwing, and "unknown evil" who really looks like Deathsaurus. This poster, coupled with the original press release does leave the question though: are one of these 9 supposed to ascend to Prime-hood, or are we making a new, original Prime from an original character? Speculate in the forums below, and check out the poster below!

I wanted Rodimus Prime, but I'll be voting for Optimus Primal, who I missed the first time I looked at the graphic!

Notice that the voting starts in January and the reveal is in February. Logically, this means that all of these figures' developments will be completed by that time, which means one of two things:
1. Out of the nine figure designs, only one will see the light of day.
2. The voting is rigged, and only the "winner" is being designed.

I never implied that. I merely stated that, given what we know, rigging (which I personally don't believe) is one of two possible explanations.

Honestly there isn't really a good way to tell if they're rigged or not. Rigged or not, this is a very odd selection of characters, and even odder that there's really not much context to them. Like I'm not even sure where to begin on how odd this cast is from both a toys and comics perspective.

If we assume this goes off of IDW characterizations:

Honor - Hound, Arcee, Primal

Order - Magnus, Megatron, Shockwave

Chaos - Star Saber, Thunderwing, Deathsaurus(?)

Takara does not do the same things as Hasbro it's not god damned rigged and nobody in the right state of mind should be thinking it is it's a damn toyline why would anyone waste time rigging some stupid online contest?



Also he has never been part of IDW but if he wins this (which I hope to god it does not so it doesn't ruin him) he probably would be introduced.

He never was. But neither was Windblade or Victorion.
If he wins, and IDW has to advertise that, they'll just add him. I wouldn't mind seeing more BW characters in the series honestly

So these characters are some to chose from for the next Prime? If that's the case, Arcee Prime MUST HAPPEN.

Meanwhile, Takara made a new MP Star Saber two years ago that, like MP Primal, Hasbro has thus far ignored. And Hasbro is making a new mold Black Shadow toy, whose original 1989 toy was a retool of Thunderwing. And Deathsaurus is already one of the rumors for Titans Return. So the possibilities aren't quite as obvious as you think they are.

Huh. It does kind of look like Deathsaurus.

If most of these characters win this it would their characters outside of Ultra Magnus and Star saber none of these contenders make any darn sense to become Prime

AND WHY ARE THEIR DECEPTICONS ON THIS LIST?


Their have been bad Primes in the past yes but there has never and I mean never been a Decepticon Prime besides Nemesis which in most cases is not a true prime and is just a clone of Optimus.


There is nothing stopping the Prime from becoming one later but don't anyone think that someone who has been a Decepticon since forever suddenly becoming a Prime is a bit absurd even if they become good suddenly and out of the blue?

"I always wanted Shockwave to become a Prime since I was a kid because we all know it was an important and frequently brought up part of his character it only makes so much sense guys he is of course the perfect contender it's so logical!"

Swap Deathsaurus with Arcee, and you've got IDW. Deathsaurus is shown to have a very high sense of honor, whereas Arcee is very much a "killing for fun" kind of lady. She's toned it down a bit recently, but her battle style is still very aggressive.

Hound deserves it. He was rejected as a kid appeal character, and that makes me sad. I'd dare to say that he has one of the purest hearts among the Autobots, and I'd like to see a Prime who fights with compassion and wisdom.

Apparently you're under some unprecendented impression that the Prime rank of IDW is some kind of Autobot-exclusive title and not instead a title that refer to Cybertron as a whole. The war is long over. The old military factions have no need anymore. Even before the war broke out was the Prime rank a title for Cybertronian authority rather than specifically for the Autobot faction.

THIS!!!

Hound has the personality and stats of a true Prime like no one else on this list it would be a disservice for us to ignore that it would be a case of one of the average guys becomes another great leader like Optimus (Orion) and Rodimus (Hot Rod) and not this stupid leader becomes another leader.

I still like G1 Arcee as a Prime better...
