PC Problem: Trying to install 2nd DVD RW

Postby Dr. GM1983 » Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:26 pm

Normally I never have an issue i cant fix on my own with a little time but this one has driven me madd. Here's the issue....

PC: HP Pavilion 513c

I'm trying to install an older (maybe 2-3yrs old) DVD+/-RW drive into my pc as a second burner hower when I do my pc doesnt recognize it. My primary burner is a Sony DVD RW DRU-530A and when connected on its own the pc finds it fine, no worries. However when I connect the second drive both drives arent recognized on the system. Can someone please help me to get both drives recognized on the system?

The second drive is a Cena DVD RW model DD1603 manufactured Feb 2005.

As always any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerly,

You need to move the jumper on the second drive to CS (means cable select) or Slave. Leave the main DVD-RW as the master drive. Because it's using the same cable to connect to the motherboard. Once that jumper is set, it should recognize both of them. If it doesn't work on one, try the other. But leave it off of the master position.
