Or downsize Omega Supreme? Just as the G1/IDW Comics scaled down Scorponok and Fort Max.

As the old saying goes "You can't please everyone"... So don't even try. Just keep the majority happy and that's good enough.

That did happen in Marvel. He was about the same size as Fort Max, maybe a bit bigger. I always thought he was originally intended as Devastator's counter on the Autobot side. However, I do think he was phased out originally both in the comics and the cartoon because his toy was a total piece of crap and didn't sell. But the comics did set up a pretty good base for his character, too bad it was never pursued.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Or downsize Omega Supreme? The same with Trypticon in the comics. Like the thread title says, what's the problem? I never read the UK version of Marvel, so I don't know if he appeared more, but in the US comics he showed up once, as Ratbat's lackey, had a fight with the Dinobots that ended in a stalemate, and that's it. Never again. His only purpose was to show what a badass Grimlock was and have the others give him the Autobot leadership after Optimus offed himself. In the comics he was also smaller than in the cartoon, so maybe he could have been Omega's counterpart, if Devastator wasn't, because Metroplex never showed up. Once again, I think because the original G1 toy was a piece of trash that didn't sell, because it wasn't very poseable. He just either stood on his 2 legs, walked on his own, or laid down on his back. "Action" figure indeed.

As I said before, I think it has to do with the toy as well but I thought more about the rights of the toy more than it selling. It always did seem more the sort that you cold have fun with for a little while before getting bored with the track aspect. My go to os at the moment is still the energon version...even if he did spend his time combined with op

Oh yeah, Omega Supreme could definitely benefit from a serious redesign, as they gave him in Animated (alas without a toy).
Maybe even break him down and make him a Gestalt?
I've always said I found Trypticon lacking as a Transformer. A Bot Mode would have given the character less of a novelty value. There are only so many TF stories you can involve Mecha-Godzilla in before actual Transformations are needed. Hence why the base modes have been absent in two out of four City Bots in most continuities.

Piece of crap?… Hardly toy was pretty awesome
I did most of Sold fine because it was. Hasbro‘s first attempt at a large figure for the toy market transformers and it convinced Hasbro that making bigger figures would sell And set the stage for the other large figures we got

Omega Supreme leads me into a new two pronged discussion. Let's talk about Shellformers and Partsformers.. So What's The Problem?
I think both can be linked into a joint discussion as the point of contention for both stems from the same question: What makes a Transformer?
Partsformers - The Argument
Overlord, Sky Shadow, Omega Supreme etc
They're "not" Transformers because they are just several separate pieces that link together
Shellformers - The Argument
Wave one basic Beast Wars etc
They're "not" Transformers because the altmode and bot mode are two components largely unconnected
Is there any validity to the argument or is it just semantics? You could argue a Gestalt is a Partsformer, Or G1 Ultra Magnus? Plus Shellformers existed way before Beast Wars, before even Pretenders...

Shellformers are definitely Transformers, I've never understood the idea that they aren't.
Partsformers, it depends. If it's a Duocon style "Multiple vehicles form one robot" thing then that's 100% fine (TR Black Shadow is one of my favourite figures of the line). Small accessories such as weapons being partsformed I don't mind either. When it's integral parts of the figure being moved, or worse still removed completely, for basic transformation then that's just lazy. Case in point those Roadbot things where to get to robot mode the entire vehicle shell has to be set aside. Omega Supreme is a severe example because he's more partsforming than actual transforming; 75% of his body mass is disassembled between modes, and the only bit of him that really does any actual transforming is his core tank. I infinitely prefer parts integration to partsforming, but if it's done elegantly I can deal with it.
