I think the problem with 3D sonics, well lets compare them to 3D marios. Nintendo realized the old style 2D gameplay would not translate into 3D, so they re-invented Mario Gameplay, and it was fun, and felt like Mario inspite of the gameplay being completly different.
When Sega went to put Sonic into 3D they just took the same old gameplay and tried to put it into 3D and it didn't translate well at all. Thats why I think the 3D sonics suck so bad.

Yes and no. On the handhelds, Sonic still rules. On the consoles, well... Let's just say I want to sue sega for the $40.00 I blew on Shadow The Hedgehog.
