What a shame really, considering that these might look so much better if ramhorn/tantrum's arms could swing toward the back much like what MMC did with their beast hind legs. With the arms out of the way Ares would also be able to stand straighter(and taller) without resorting to the standard "A" legs.

I've been staring at the pictures of MMC's for months now and I just can't unsee it. Every time I look at it the leg shapes and proportions just look jacked. Yes, TFC's do indeed look like robot bodies/torsos but their shape and outline looks straight like a shin. I'm hoping the final colors and paint apps end up making TFC's look better than they do, but they already look better to me than MMC's.

Overall, I guess I'm just disappointed that MMC's didn't end up with the truly wild looking designs their initial outlines and teasers seemed to indicate. They look to me like they went back and re-worked the entire set to make it way more blocky and Hasbroish than it needed to be in order to please some of the fans or something. TFC's comes closer to what I was wanting, but unfortunately none of the 3 options is perfect IMO. TFC's is just the one I like best and I don't regret spending the money.

Also, Nemean's legs can be stretched a bit in torso mode...

That abdomen with the silver and the red line details looks totally badass, as do those massive red cannons :).

TFC's Razorclaws robot arms just hanging there not hidden on the predaking torso look bad. This might have been okay for the 1986 Predaking toy due to the $75 buyers paid & the toy tech from 30 years ago. Sadly here the TFC Predaking will cost over $600 & toy tech has come a long way since 1986.

It actually doesn't bother me. To me, those arms/yellow bits on the sides of his torso were always a part of his iconic look, but I definitely hear what you're saying.

Agreed. In fact, prior to TFC's being announced I was going to get MMC's even though I liked the hands on the UT version better. TFC for me is like the best of both worlds. It's huge, very stylistic (i.e. not too slavish to G1) and includes the more "monstrous" looking hands similar to what the UT version has.

That transformation didn't look like it was even remotely fun. Things not locking/tabbing into place, or being so tight that I was worried they'd break while he was filming, makes me even more glad I passed on this!

Hopefully they get their act together for Defensor.

Not only is Nemean waaay to big, but wow, that beast mode really looks terrible from those new angles!

More and more I'm missing the Herc days, when they busting out great work, and getting worried about their Not-Protectobots.

Wow! Does that make Ares Masterpiece scale?

He certainly seems to be individually. Unfortunately for anyone looking for this to be an MP combiner (thanks to the lovely art of mass-shifting in the G1 cartoon) he's only Classics scale in combined mode. I'm good with that because he's going on the old Classics/Generations/RTS shelves (or my floor if I don't have room for him there :P).
