The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
Re: The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
Did G1 have more episodes per season than Animated? It just seems that G1 was on longer, but Season 3 was, more or less, the conclusion.
Given that logic, Animated might not be ending so prematurely at all. Although, there was more characters when Season 3 of G1 concluded.

No generation 1 did not end with Season 3 as many believe it to be.
Generation 1 ended with the Rebirth Special and acted as a season 4.
Also Generation 1 continued beyond that bye going into the other series of The Headmasters, Victory & Super God Master Force.
Generation 1 also had seasons alot shorter than animated is some where way shorter as most seasons of Animated last 13 episodes as some of Generation 1's were shorter than that.

Only G1 season 4 was shorter than any of Animated's seasons. Animated's first two seasons were 16 and 13 episodes long respectively. Each G1's season were 16, 49, 30, 3, and 20 episodes long (the 20-episode fifth season was mainly a rerun/"best of" season, consisting of old episodes and the movie, but with new live-action footage of Powermaster Optimus Prime telling these stories to Tommy Kennedy).Rodimus2006 wrote:Generation 1 also had seasons alot shorter than animated is some where way shorter as most seasons of Animated last 13 episodes as some of Generation 1's were shorter than that.

Before we finally get a view at the beginning of the third season of Transformers Animated tomorrow morning, I'd like to treat you all to TEN bios for TEN season three characters. Five Autobots, five Decepticons, all of which are already known of.
I've had scans of these bios for quite a while and forgot about them over time. So, what better time than the night before "Transwarped" debuts?
Presenting the bios for Rodimus Prime's team and Strika's team:
The Autobots:
RODIMUS PRIME
FUNCTION: CAVALIER
“My actions speak louder than words.”
RODIMUS PRIME was dubbed ‘the chosen one’ in the Autobot Academy. He is well liked and highly skilled. Rodimus is a natural leader and seemingly on the fast track to becoming Magnus. He is exceptionally skilled in servo to servo combat as well as being a master at many Autobot defensive weapons. His armament of choice is an energy bow of his own design.
IRONHIDE
FUNCTION: SECURITY
“High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts.”
IRONHIDE is an easy going country bot, with the ability to transform his exterior into a super dense, nearly invulnerable alloy able to withstand almost any impact or blast. Ironhide was protoformed in a small rural prefecture far away from the big Cybertron cities. He is often filled with wide eyed amazement over the smallest things in the galaxy. Though jovial and good natured, sometimes his pranks can get a bit crude.
RED ALERT
FUNCTION: FIELD MEDIC
“Caution can never be overused.”
RED ALERT is one of the most skilled surgeons on Cybertron. Her bedside manner may be a little brusque, but she is immensely talented and has had much practical experience as a combat medic. Red Alert’s left hand has been modified into an instrument that can emit a wide spectrum of light based facilities. This can be used to scan patients for internal damage or via focused hard light technology, can become stretchers and laser scalpels.
HOT SHOT
FUNCTION: PYROTECHNICS
“Is it hot in here, or is it just me?”
HOT SHOT is an inexperienced young bot who lives life in the fast lane. His incredible speed makes him one of the first to throw himself into a battle albeit sometimes a bit haphazardly. His arms are able to convert into welding torches that can be used for building and repair. He can also use them as fireball or flame throwers in battle.
BRAWN
FUNCITON: DEMOLITIONS
“Might over microchips.”
BRAWN is a tough little guy. Smaller than Bumblebee and stronger than Bulkhead, Brawn brings brute force to Rodimus Prime’s defense team. Often underestimated, he’s a grumpy bot who likes to let his fists to the talking.
The Decepticons:
STRIKA
FUNCTION: GENERAL OF DESTRUCTION
“Victory lies in the tactics of destruction.”
STRIKA is Megatron’s personally chosen “General of Destruction”. She lives for the glory of war. She is immensely strong and has a brilliant military tactical mind. Strika transforms into a multi-wheeled heavily armored battle tank with enormous firepower. She brought the Decepticons many victories during The Great War. She is also the consort of Lugnut.
CYCLONUS
FUNCTION: SABOTEUR
“Compassion is the Autobots’ downfall.”
CYCLONUS is cold and harsh. His origins are clad in mystery, having suddenly appeared on New Kaon long after The Great War had ended. He is nihilistic, caring for nothing, and insistent that nothing matters because the end is near.
BLACKOUT
FUNCTION: SHOCK AND AWE
“Lights out.”
BLACKOUT is the most massive Decepticon that has ever been seen by an Autobot Few have lived to tell the tale of encountering this hulking brute covered from stern to stern in heavy ordinance. Decepticon lore heralds Blackout as having single handedly obliterating several Omega Sentinels before falling himself at the end of The Great War.
SPITTOR
FUNCTION: WASTE DISPOSAL
“Are you gonna eat that?”
SPITTOR disgusts even other Decepticons. He is lazy and dishonest. Spittor is constantly slobbering, oozing slime and bad smelling. In his bipedal all terrain walker mode, Spittor lashes out tongue-like cables to grab and swallow his victims. Once inside his mouth, prey is either digested, or coated in a combustible slime then spat out to explode on impact.
OIL SLICK
FUNCTION: CHEMICAL WAREFARE
“Control the elements and you control the universe.”
OIL SLICK is a smooth and calculating Decepticon chemical weapons specialist, a brilliant scientist that uses all of his mental might to design the tools of war. His cruelest invention is an adaption of the deadly Cosmic Rust cyber-virus, which he transformed into a weapons grade gel. If not treated with the antidote immediately, those stricken with the cosmic rust will corrode away, right down to the spark chamber.

Yes.

Completely incorrect.
TG1 season 1 16 episodes
TFA season 1 16 episodes
TG1 season 2 48 episodes
TFA season 2 13 episodes
TG1 season 3 29 episodes
TFa season 3 unknown
And the so called "season 4" of G1 was never intended to be a season 4.
"The Rebirth" was interned to be a pilot for a new series...as spin off to be exact. We as fans like to call it the 4th season but its really not.
So technically there are no seasons of G1 that are shorter then those of Animated.

Did you forget about G1 season 5, which featured live-action footage of the Powermaster Prime puppet and Tommy Kennedy? Yeah it didn't have any new episodes, but it's still the "fifth" season.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:Random wrote:Did G1 have more episodes per season than Animated?

Besides, if the DVDs say that The Rebirth is Season 4, doesn't that make it sort of official? Or do you not count what the DVDs say as official?

Nope....but technically that would be the real season 4.If a season of almost all reruns can really be called a season.
Sabrblade wrote: Yeah it didn't have any new episodes, but it's still the "fifth" season.
Actually it did have 5 [?] new episodes that had never been on TV.
Sabrblade wrote:Besides, if the DVDs say that The Rebirth is Season 4, doesn't that make it sort of official?
Official....yes...as official as any retcon is official.
But I'm not talking about whats official.
I'm talking about whats aired. And what it was intended to be when it aired.
"The Rebirth" was a pilot for a new serries.
It was not intended to be the start of a new season nor was it intended to be a serries finally.
But it became both. But its not how it started out.
Sabrblade wrote: Or do you not count what the DVDs say as official?
Like I said its as offical as any retcon done to any story that is done after the fact.
The DVD was released more then 10 years after the show aired. They can call it anything they want at that point....but when it aired it was not a 4th season.
Name_Violation wrote:season 5? smokin rocks?

It was a bit more then that.
And there were 5 [?] new episodes that had never been seen on TV before.
And that was the movie broken into different parts.

But that doesn't make them new, it just makes them a cut up version of the movie.
It isn't new if it's already been shown before. Even Comedy Central doesn't call any of Season 5 of Futurama new, because it's just the four movies cut up into episodes. (In fact, they usually only refer to them by the movie's name, rather than "New Episodes of Futurama" they'd say "Futurama: Bender's Big Score" even though they're in episode format)

Actully it does make them new "EPISODES" since the movie was never seen on tv before nor was it ever cut up into parts.

It is new to a tv serries if it was never shown before on tv.

As a matter of fact I have seen them advertise "Benders big score" as new as well as their other movies broken into the season.
Family guy did the same when they broke up their movie into episodes for the show.

Time Warped was an awesome 3-parter!!
They had everyone except the Dinobots and Blitzwing, Lugnut, and Black Arachnia.
But Metroplex, Alpha Trion, Wheel Jack, Brawn, and Perceptor talking like Stephen Hawkins.. awesome.
Char Decepticons were cool. Thundercracker and Skywarp.
Shockwave eliminating Blurr.
Sari Upgrade and everything else. What else can you ask for besides bring in the NEW TOYS

So much was realveled in this episode but still left us with many more questions.
How did the Protoform of Sari end up on Cybertron is she a former Autobot or a Decipticon.
So I did get it righ it did open up with Rodimus Team gaurding the Decipticons.
Sort of got it right about Sari & Megatron. She was formed into Sari Human bye Sumdacs DNA but made upgraded from Megatrons Parts from Sumdac Reverse Egineering.
So the key Upgrades Sari into Robo Sari and the key changes her from a Kid to a young Teenager.
I also did see Metroplex so I suspect he will come into Play later on in season 3.
Boy did Perceptor talk Wierd. Saw Arcee once more and we saw the origins of Omega Supreme very cool.
Mainframe wasnt shown but he may be in later episodes
We didnt see the Matrix of Leadership on Sari's chestplate as shown in character sketches so I assume this comes into play also later in season 3.
Didnt get to see much of the new Decipticons led bye Strikka but I suspect they have a larger role in season 3.
At the end of the Episode Omega showed up on Cybertron to Deliver Starcream's head and Megatron to the Elite gaurd then did multiple random Gatejumps.
This could be because of Starscreams Head is still lodged into Omega's Control thus Megatron was able to make the jumps to advoid capture.
I suspect more will be revealed in the upcoming episodes and overall this is going to be an awesome season like I predicted.
If so much was shown in this episode imagine how much will be revealed in the entire season and I suspect that there will be more multiple episodes maybe Predacons Rising will be and the season finale will most difinatly will be.
I am hoping in the upcoming episodes we see how Sari's protoform ended up on Earth and who sent her there and why maybe it has something to do with Alpha Trion but that is unkown at the moment.

That was absolutely brilliant by the writers!! Loved it!! Perceptor talks like Steven Hawking (please tell me I'm not the only one who caught that).Rodimus2006 wrote:Boy did Perceptor talk Wierd.

Uber Sari was awesome. Perceptor voice =awesome. Flashbacks=awesome.
I loved how Screamer is still a functional character even being just a head.
I would've enjoyed a bit more of the "not earth" stuff, but all in all that was an A++++++++++++++++++ opener. Cybertron mode Oil Slick with the cosmic rust was excellent. I hope some of that crew ends up on earth.
Also, poor Blurr.
I actually liked him in this one. Oh well.

Omega Supereme was transporting from one place to another at the end...
because of what Bulk Head, Bumblebee, and Prime put at Omega at the end to randomly teleport anywhere.
The Device that was stuck in Bumblebee at the begining which made him teleport.

That was so cool how Sari used the Key to power up to her upgraded form she almost lost control and blew up Detroit.
If Megatron ever got his hand on Sari it could mean big trouble for the Autobots.
Good lord Sari was almost as fast as Blur and had a huge array of weapons it is almost like she is something like Omega Supreme like some sort of Doomsday Weapon.
She had Energy Blades and a Hammer that looked like Ultramagnus's
Cant wait to see more of her in action later in the season.
I wonder if Megatron will learn about Sari's new powers and try to use them in someway.
Also I still wanna know how her Protoform ended up on Earth did it crash land way before Megatron did or about the same time he did.
So many questions still are not answered but we got some good idead to work upon.
Does anyone else think that Blurr really is destroyed that was Sick how Shockwave trapped him and turned him into a Pancake.
Then told them to throw him away inside of Metroplex I wonder if they will find out it really is Blurr or not.

Re: The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
Wow. Ok, the guys at Animated KNOW how to do a proper premeire and finale. So much revealed, so many new questions. Here's hoping they keep up with this pace during the whole season. Also, if they do go the Direct to DVD route after the season is finished(I've heard they might), then hoo boy, it will be great
.
I hope Blurr isn't dead, but if he is, that's pretty violent.
Upgraded Sari, surprisingly awsome! Who knew a fleshling could take down a Rock Lord? Oh yeah, Rock Lords!
Everything else, great. Heck, even the Headmaster was surprisingly entertaining, and finally a threat. Is it just me, or did the budget increase? Seems like there was more action in these three episodes than a majority of the first two seasons. Yep, Animated is shaping up to be one of, if not the, best Transformers series in a long time.

Actually, Perceptor's voice was provided by Macintalk, the same program used in the film WALL-E to provide the voice of AUTO.
Uber-Sari will hand Decepticons their afts!

Re: The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
I was a little disappointed by Perceptor's voice. I would have preferred a Speak n Spell instead of that.
I really liked the episode though, it was cool seeing all the other bots even if they didn't have any speaking roles. Really too bad about Blurr though =((
