Transformers 25th Anniversary 2009

Postby Powermaster Maximus Prime » Mon Apr 28, 2008 8:23 pm

Has anyone heard any rumors or rumblings, facts if Hasbro is planning anything big(besides Transformers 2)in 2009...cause I hope Hasbro realizes that it is the 25th Anniversary of Transformers.

I think they should do something special for the fans, such as:

* Have a broader(no Toys R Us only exclusives)rerelease of the G1 figures on a limited basis in special 25th Anniversary packaging

*Sony should release the complete series on DVD with tons of bonus features(if they haven't already)

Hasbro, if you guys check the fan message boards now and then, please take heed to these suggestions!

A G1 Optimus Prime reissue was already confirmed at Botcon as part of Universe/Classics 2.0. Short of that, no clue. Most of the other reissues we know are coming are part of TakaraTomy's Encore line.

I wouldn't hold my breath though, as far as Hasbro checking the Seibertron.com forums are concerned. I'm pretty sure I've been wanting new Headmasters as long as I've been here, and the nearest we've come so far is the new mold for Targetmaster Cyclonus that's also been confirmed at Botcon.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

At the Hasbro panel, they said that pretty much everything released in 2009 will have the 25th Anniversary stamp on it. The core lines will, of course, be the Animated and TF2 lines. The Universe line is going to be expanding its scope to cover all incarnations of Transformers over the years with characters from all the lines from G1 to Beast Wars to Cybertron and everything in between being redone using the most up to date toy technology. That's pretty much the gist of what we'll be seeing next year.

As for that, I believe someone at BotCon said that Sony and BMG are still fighting over the rights to release G1 stuff on DVD after their recent split so, unfortunately, I wouldn't count on seeing anything like that next year.

I wouldn't give up, yet. The Prime reissue I was talking about last post includes "the original 3 part animated series of More than Meets the Eye®". That doesn't by any stretch mean that the whole series is going to get released, just that we shouldn't give up just yet.

I have a question about releasing the G1 series, though. Assuming for the sake of the question that G1 does get released, should the movie (which just got 20th Anniversary DVD release in '06) be included? It does lay the groundwork for season 3.

Another thought. If the answer the last question is yes, should Scramble City be included as well? I've always felt it was a mistake to just have fan commentary. They could have at least included a subtitled version (as Scramble City was Japan only)...

I can assure that the folks at Hasbro do indeed check out this website to see what content has been added as well as what you guys are saying. Tons of people from Hasbro check out this site (as well as some of the other top TF sites like our biggest rival TFW) from the designers to marketing to their legal department all the way up to the top spot. The people at Hasbro take a great amount of interest in our opinions and thoughts.

Maybe there isn't enough interest among the Fandom for Headmasters then, because for as long as I've been here I remember bringing up my interest in their reissue (or at least something new for the Headmasters). The nearest we've come as I type this is the new Targetmaster Cyclonus mode I mentioned before and the leader-class Bulkhead for Animated (which, from what I understand, is just a character from the current animated series manipulating Bulkhead, and not the sort of Headmaster I mean).

I think it's cool that they actually do look though.

I would gurantee that Hasbro does quite a bit for a 25th Ann. I think they would be foolish not to just from a sales point of view and the Animated figures in my opinion are going to sell like $1 beers! Not to mention the movie and all the other figs. and merchandise. I think they'll capitalize any way they can during this next few years because of the success they're having with the Tfs line with every age group. So don't be surprised if they make a fig. or item you've been dreaming about for years but thought it would never come to pass! Keep the dream alive! :D

Yep Yep!

I half-way expect Fort Max to rear his mammoth head in Encore. Not gonna happen in America unless he gets a new mold, but he's the next logical step from Metroplex being Encore #12 and Omega Supreme being either 9 or 10 (depending on whatever is going on with the minibots).

Besides, Cyclonus was confirmed for Universe at Botcon this year. I'd be as willing to see new molds (with Cyclonus being an example of this) as I would reissues.

I'm preeetty sure Hasbro knows all about the 25th anniversary of that Transforming toyline you're mentioning. 8)

They'll have surprises for us and I know they've kept some info from Botcon that will surprise most everyone still. Heck, they kept Silverbolt a secret for a good time.

It would be cool to have some of the headmaster toys reissued also it would be cool to have some of the headmaster toys that never reached these shores reissued in america like the trainbots.

Well thanks guys for all the informative posts, I nearly fell outta my chair when I saw the pics of the G1 Prime reissue(with LONG smokestacks!!!)

Man 2009 is gonna be a great year for TF fans!(provided the SAG strike doesn't delay TF2...which would royally SUCK...why do the big hollywood big wigs have to always strike??? Didn't we just get done with one??)

I'm gonna go on Seib's word about Hasbro, so here it goes

Dear Hasbro,

Please stop sucking, granted sometimes you pull out all the stops and give us something realy cool, but then you give us 4 years of it being repainted and Animated.

For the 25th, please consider importing items like the Music Label, Sports Label, Revoltech, and larger Encore items.

As always reissues are fun, but could we please get something other than Optimus, Magnus, StarScream, and SoundWave. Some of the other figures like the Pretenders, Target and HeadMasters, giants like SixShot and Trypticon would be great to see on the shelves again.

Now I know currently both Transformers and GIJoe are doing very well for you. However since the days of Marvel's involvement at the series start, fans have been clamoring for a cross over line.

I for one, and I know I'm not alone in saying this, would be more than happy to forgo Star Wars Transformers, as well as the upcoming Marvel Crossover lines to get this.

So Hasbro, please keep kicking ass, keep bringing newer figures as apose to newer color patterns on the ones we have already, even though in complete contradiction I'm going to ask that in whatever line you release, if you do one Seeker, do them all(we like that).

Please be more experimental in pushing the limits of product design and function, or just keep ripping off Takara, whatever works for you...

But most of all, please stop sucking, when you have proven that you can do very well.

Sincerly,
Liege Evilmus

I'm sure they'll do something big next year.

I just praying for NO reissues. I'd rather have a modern version of one released 15-20 years ago.

Imagine a 4-foot Fort Max (or Metroplex) with 20 more points of articulation!!! I'd pay $250 for it.

I'd also hope for a "weapons pack". Remember back in the 80s when GI Joe had packs of replacement missiles for various vehicles? I hope Hasbro can release multi-colored, and various melee Energon weapons. I'd love to have various colors of Skyblast's spear, Divebomb and Cruellock's swords, and any other weapon designs that'll add to my figures.

This is what was good about the mini-cons that were able to gestalt weapons or had a Targetmaster-style weapon mode (as well as the normal vehicle mode).
