ive gotten a hankoring for some RID, and i collect dvds/blurays as much as transformers. so naturally i look and find this:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DVD-Transformers ... 5b9&_uhb=1
it appears to be from malaysia(?) and it confuses me. it says region free but it has some trouble in american players.

That is a bootleg.
The only official DVDs that exist for the English version of this show are those that were released in the UK by Maximum Entertainment, which are Region 2 releases.

Don't count on any US releases either. The rights to the dub are in the grabby hands of Disney after the buyout of Saban. Don't know if the re-established studio has bought back the rights, but given its focus on Power Rangers at the moment, I wouldn't think so.

Yeah the only things Saban has bought back from Disney are its Tokusatsu adaptations (Power Rangers, Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, Masked Rider, etc.), Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, and the English dubs of the various Digimon anime.

So if I have a set from Malaysia already, and it plays fine, would this RiD set also play just the same?

Word of warning. Some RiD bootlegs use video sources taken from low quality Fox Kids TV recordings rather than rips from the official DVDs, meaning that they'll look and sound no better than 20+ year old VHS tapes.shajaki wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:So if I have a set from Malaysia already, and it plays fine, would this RiD set also play just the same?
