Like a good number of fans, there are things that I liked and disliked about Beast Machines.
Let's get the bad out of the way:
1. I hated the whole organic versus technology thing, simply because we hear enough of that environmentalist stuff enough as it is (not to mention that Transformers are ROBOTS)
2. Rattrap and Optimus's character changes really rankled with me. Didn't Megatron help kill Dinobot? You'd think that that would ensure Rattrap's desire to have Megatron's head on a plate, not helping him (I know that was a one-time deal, but hey, it has to be brought up. Other than that, Rattrap was okay.) The Optimus territory has been covered already, so I'm not going to go theire.
Now, for the good:
1. I confess, I loved the whole concept behind the Vehicons. The hive mind concept that went along with it should definitely been the major focus, with Optimus fighting for free will and Megatron fighting for total domination. Then there was the whole concept of taking a loveable character and warping him into something else. That is why I am probably one of the few people who likes what Mr. Skir did with Silverbolt. Imagine the regret that someone as honorable as Silverbolt would feel over being a homicidal maniac and liking it. Having that personality forced on you by someone else would only add fuel to the fire. Finally, the first three generals definitely appealed to me. I got a kick out of Tankor making like the Incredible Hulk. (Animated Lugnut, you have some big shoes to fill.) Jetstorm was a riot, and Thrust was pretty blunt.
