Marvel Cinematic Universe (Movies & TV) Discussion

I'm pretty optimistic about the new FF movie, considering the cast. I think the only one they missed the mark on was the guy playing Ben Grimm. Pedro Pascal wouldn't have been my 1st choice for Reed Richards, but he he's a very good actor and I'm sure he'll pull it off. Vanessa Kirby is good as well, I wonder if she'll keep her British accent for the role. Who plays Doom?
And is anyone else psyched for Deadpool 3 after that Super Bowl teaser?

I've been hearing rumors that they're planning to bring back more cancelled animated series. I really hope Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes makes a comeback, that's one of the better animated superhero series that I've seen, maybe third to only Young Justice and Invincible

I read one comment in the trailer that said "Forget the rest of the MCU, the X-Men are back!". There were some upvotes to that.

Other pieces of art have begun surfacing. That might indicate you are correct?

I hope so, these costumes are a nice change of pace compared to some other MCU designs.

X-Men '97 - Episode 1 & 2
Weirdly enough, no "previously on X-Men" series recap for episode one? Seems like a bit of a nostalgia oversight. Also tweaks to the theme song. I will add here something was odd with the sound mixing? It wasn't crisp or clear. Also they didn't use the original power sound effects!? Magneto and Cyclops powers had a very distinct sound and now just.. don't?
Every trailer you may have seen so far ( I didn't post the last three or four teasers here). Thankfully, 95% are bits from the first episode. Which is good. Keeps some surprises for episode two.
Voices, are a mixed bag. Cyclops (new voice in lieu of the deceased Norm Spencer) is good. Storm, Wolverine, Beast and Rogue all perfectly reprised roles, to my ear. Gambit and Morph are ..fine. Bishop and Jubilee are not. Also, while not the original voice for Jean. Jennifer Hale has been her in enough video games that I didn't find the change jarring. Speaking of jarring, the animation. It's really good in motion and at a distance. But there are several talking heads moments with up close faces and the thick black outlines look really odd. The faces similarly are weirdly rigid for these close ups too.
Story. One of the things I liked about TAS was that it wasn't beholden to any continuity but it's own. This continues here. We have a big portrait of the Original Five X-Men (which is still a weird continuity blip, ifkyk) and an emphasis on past relationships that are not elaborated on.
Episode 1 & 2 I'd give 7/10 each. The truncated storyline of episode 2 was a bit of a let down. But it's the two potential bits of source material that end episode two. That, I am intrigued to see what they do with it.

Also I forgot that in TAS, Morph isn't a Shapeshifter. He is basically Legion...

Technically yes. Since he controls magnetic fields and Uru is a metal. He's not "worthy", but his powers work around the enchantment.

Episode 3: Fire Made Flesh
Did not really care for this one. Episode 3 suffers even more from the truncated nature of it's source material than Episode 2. A couple of storylines rolled into one episode and not really well enough to convey the gravity of it's stakes. Names are just tossed around because they canonically exist. Not because they organically develop. Powers (and appearance) similarly visually shift for no real reason within the context of the story. Honestly, this one should have been more than a one-off episode. As it stands, this was the definition of underwhelming. 4/10

I have been enjoying x-men 97
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

X-Men '97 - Episode 4: Motendo/Lifedeath Pt.1
Best episode so far. As the title would suggest, we have two stories here. One, featuring Jubilee on her 18th Birthday (I can't remember if that tracks with her age presented in the original series
) and Sunspot is there too ..Still not really doing anything. But it is a fun spotlight for her.
Lifedeath is a title that would only mean anything if you know the source material. If you don't, minus spoilers, it's a story of Storm and Forge. Adapted better than the Goblin Queen story in the last episode. The animation also seems improved here too. This is the first time that I've gotten the old TAS vibe from '97. Especially with the latter story. 8/10

Hugh Jackmam IS too tall. And in 2000, he was also too young. He's about the right age now. The only time he looked anywhere close to what Logan should look like was in 2017.

While last week's episode (Lifedeath Pt.2) was probably the weakest so far. A nice that Storm got a visual upgrade being the only real highlight.
X-Men '97 - Episode 7: Bright Eyes
Oook, we're back to episodes where a LOT happens very quickly. Lots of name drops, one notable cameo and big surprises unfold. Also good to know I was right with who I assumed the real big bad to be! 9/10
