Did you hear the crowd going " Na na na na, na na na na, hey, hey, goodbye" When G.W. Bush was being escorted to the helicopter? EPIC!

I thought that was pretty low class actually.
Presidents should be respected. Period.
Their policies..eh, not so much.

I saw the inauguration at work in the boardroom. All Americans should be proud for who they have brought to office. The US has waited for another president that is as eloquent as JFK. Obama is a visionary and he is exactly what the US needs to bring herself back into the world community.

Agreed. I thought it was pretty tacky. I was hoping this would be the one day where we could unite and show a little class.

I thought Bush's farewell address was really heartfelt and respectful. I'm not a fan of the current economic situation or some of Bush's actions in office, but he seems like a decent human being and the level of disrespect thrown his way is wrong.

I agree, though I don't recall the chanting when he was on stage/going to the chopper. Maybe there was a commercial break at the time, or I was out of the room when it happened. Ah well.

Definitely a historic day. I pray that Obama makes the best and right decisions for this country. May God help and guide him.

Absolutely. And people wonder why Americans aren't respected world wide. It's that attitude that does it. And it was happening long before Bush was in office. There are days I wish I wasn't American because I wouldn't want to be associated with people so obnoxious and rude. Lets face it- the Presidency is not an easy job. And those that attempt to undertake it deserve at least a modicum of respect for trying.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Re: Inauguration of President Barack Obama
Transformers is my hobby and I agree not to mix politics and fun. However, we as a nation have made a horrendous mistake with the election of Barack HUSSEIN Obama. He was elected because the left wing media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and etc) wanted him to be elected. I cannot fathom why they would want this other than being sore losers from 2001 and 2004. Now I don't agree with a lot of decisions that Bush made but he was not as bad as the left wing media portrayed him. I have nothing against having a HALF black man as president, or even a fully black man. What I do have a problem with is that we elected a inexperienced junior senator whose only experience is as a community organizer to the most powerful position on earth. Anyone who doesn't believe that he was elected solely on his ethnicity is simply naive. And on top of all of this, if he is so concerned about stimulating the economy, how about foregoing the 175 million dollar inauguration bull and give every American $500,000. This is going to be a long and scary 4 years of Obamunisim (communism). And finally, why does the left wing media simply refuse to refer to, or identify Obama as a HALF black man? So, no we didn't elect the first African-American as president. Not to mention there is no such thing as African-Americans unless you were born in Africa and immigrated here. We are all Americans regardless if we are black, white, pink, purple, orange, or blue. Color should have nothing to do with electing a president although it clearly did.
Just don't blame me in the future, I voted for McCain/Palin!
Now this is my opinion and I am entitled to it. Just as though everyone else on this board is entitled to their own. Once everyone posts their negative replys, at the end of the day we are all still Autobots and Decepticons!! Long live Seibertron!!

You know, I'm tired. The hypocrisy that comes when talking about politics and everything is just ridiculous.
Sometimes it's just better to keep ones opinion to themselves. Sure speaking your mind is great and all with our awesome first amendment.
But doing certain things that seem to intentionally stir up stuff...thats just not good manners.
So I end with this.

Re: Inauguration of President Barack Obama
I will say that I am a conservative, but was pretty happy with my country today. If this is a uniting move and truely brings together, Obama may be the right person at the right time in this nation. We don't have to hate every person in office because of the letter next to their name. History has shown great people from both sides, and thus far Obama has lessened some of my worries with a lot of his cabinet choices.
I will also say that I did not vote in this election. As a fiscal conservative, my party has really abbandoned those principals as a whole over the last 6-8 years. This is not a rip on Bush (although he is a big spender as well), but a shift in many of our congressmen, and a sad shift that alienated people in my party tha have this as a core value. That being said, since 1996, I cannot bring myself to vote for a democrat.
It is important to acknowledge this election and see that it is historical and has hopefully brought us together. At the same time, many of you mods have acted pretty classless in both who you have called out in the forum (outside of the death threat guy). It is pretty poor to tell someone "If you don't like it, leave" because they either have a different opinion than you or fell that it is not the right topic for a transformers site. Also to point out that it is in the general discussion section does not change the fact that it is on the front page as a headline. That kind of takes it out of the "general discussion" area. I am not saying it is a bad thing having it up there, this is an international site, and it is good to show how proud we are of our fellow americans, or for Ryan and the Chicago crew, how proud they are of someone they have followed throughout his career. It is an exciting day, but calling only those out who differ in political position because of their concern that it is not an appropriate topic is pretty silly.
Sorry, I started to ramble a little bit there.

Why am I a Nazi? Because I believe that race and ethnicity have absolutely no place in the political process? I have a problem with Obama because he isn't qualified for the job and I don't agree with his political agenda. If Condoleeza Rice or even Colin Powell run for president I would have voted for them in a heart beat. If you don't agree with me fine. But come up with some other defense or reply other than name calling.
In Obama's defense, all the folly that is sure to ensure will not be exclusively his responsibility. Just as with past president's a lot of problems stem from within the house and senate. Until we as people grow a set, stop listening to the media, and stand up to the corrupt politicians (including Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, etc.) and say no more, we will continue down a path that will be disastrous one. Contrary to what some people here think, I love this country and I am damn proud to be an American.

I never called you a nazi, I was using humor to point out what you were implicating by capitalizing President Obama's middle name, Hussein. Which is that he has some kind of connection to Islamic extremists. Go ahead and re-read my post, I have it quoted below:
Fender Bender wrote:hotrod1979 wrote:However, we as a nation have made a horrendous mistake with the election of Barack HUSSEIN Obama.
My middle name is Herbert. Big deal. Perhaps my foes will start capitalizing it to implicate I'm a Nazi.
See, my post suggests that if I were in the public spotlight and there were those that disagreed with me, they would make it a point to try and tie my name to something I had nothing to do with. Are my ancestors German? Yes. Am I a Nazi? No. The same holds true for President Obama. Were his relatives Muslim? Yes. Is he a terrorist? No.

Re: Inauguration of President Barack Obama
While we're on the subject, Barack Obama is still more experienced that Sarah Palin.
I would say they are relatively equal in the experience arena, however Palin was running as a VP candidate (basically just a no-power figurehead in our system of gov't).

Go ahead and re-read my post, I have it quoted below:Fender Bender wrote:hotrod1979 wrote:However, we as a nation have made a horrendous mistake with the election of Barack HUSSEIN Obama.
No.

I can be man enough to say that I mis-read your post.I apologize. However, I simply don't trust someone who has ties of any kind to terrorists whether or not it's blood or simple association. It's also a simple fact that the very large majority of terrorists are Muslim and Arab( I know not all, Unabomber, shoe-bomber etc). As a frequent air traveler I often see examples of mis-guided attempts at airport security to save face and to pacify the sensitive people around the world. Why would TSA pull a parent and 5 year old out of line for a random extensive search while some guy with a turban walks straight through? I firmly believe in civil rights, but I also believe that protecting our citizens is a higher priority than giving a damn if the UN get's their feelings hurt by a little racial profiling regarding terrorists.
