In your opinion, which Megatron was the most successful in his respective comic and/or cartoon series? This includes Overlord from Masterforce, as he was the Decepticon leader and pretty much had Megatron's place.

Design wise? ability? character?

I'm assuming he means Campaign wise. Which was most successful in accomplishing their goals.

I may be wrong of course, but if not then in my opinion is that Beast Wars/Machines Megatron would have been the most successful.

From the shows I've seen, the most successful seems to be...

Primus, I really don't know. When you look at it, then every Megatron was defeated.
I keep thinking that it's either Armada or Energon, but I doubt.

Animated Megatron. He was so close to destroying Cybertron! But he would have to sacrifice himself to do it though. And he was close to destroying Earth too. If it wasn't for Optimus's upgrade and Prowl's sacrifice, he would have.

My vote goes to Beast Wars Megatron. He came this close to wiping out the Maximals by blasting stasis-locked Optimus Prime in the past. Not just that, he wiped out the entire planet in Beast Machines with his virus. It's just the persistence of Primal that always does him in. Every time.

In Japan, it's actually Car Robot Devil Gigatron (RiD Galvatron) that was the most successful as in he actually defeated God Fire Convoy (Omega Prime) in the Earth's core. Buuuuuuut he made the mistake of trying to drain him and thus overloaded. I'm not kidding, Fire Convoy said so in the epilogue of the Japanese dub.

Beast Era Megatron, Animated Megatron, and maybe even TF:Prime Megatron are the ones to come to mind in terms of success.

Yeah, funny thing about G1 Megatron....in the time from the end of season 2 to the beginning of the Animated movie, Megatron managed to return his Decepticon army back to and conquer Cybertron. Also, in his final "blaze of glory" moments, Megatron crippled the Autobots Earth base and killed Optimus Prime.

I'd say conquering your home planet and killing your acrh nemesis makes you pretty successful.

I'm watching season one... and he's not doing too badly. He pretty much won in the Ultimate Doom, sending a lot of energon to Cybertron that helped him solidify his eventual hold over the planet. Earth was devastated with probably tens of millions of deaths and the Autobots left having to help clean up the mess.

I think it's the iteration of G1 Megatron from the "All Hail Megatron" comics by IDW. He conquered Earth, and ruthlessly forced the Autobots into hiding for a long time.

Maybe he had some high-point scores, but he ruled Cybertron like only in the end of his rule (because he isn't Galvatron, he was re-made into Galv after which Decepticons lost Cybertron anyway).

But still, most of his schemes and weapons had the ultimate fallback.

Actually, to quote Victor Caroli in the premiere...

"The Autobots, on the verge of extinction, battle valiantly to survive!"

I'd say that's a pretty damned good start, there. He also maintained that level of control throughout the series. And we don't know precisely when he solidified his control. Could've been 1987 for all we know.

Point is, G1 Megatron can be sorely underestimated. A little reading between the lines and his threat quotient skyrockets.

I was tempted to state the obvious and go with BW Megs. However after giving the subject a little more thought, I've decided to go with G1 Megs, mainly because of his overall longevity.

lets see.
the original: Had a couple of wins in season one and two with the exception of B.O.T. god that was embarrassing as well as kill all our childhood in the movie so yeah he gets a A-
Beast wars: had two wins 1. shooting Prime in the head causing all of space and time to crumble. & 2. all of Beast Machines up until the end of course. so B+
RID: can't remember a thing on what he did.
trilogy: I don't know he was bipolar when it came to him one minute he's in the gray for one season, net minute he makes no sense on what he's doing the finally he's going super sayian in cybertron.
Animated: came second place to IDW
IDW: probably better then the original, killed Sentinal, conquered the states, and is now slow twisting the knife with his awesome new form in RotD.
movie: so far killed Prime and Sam thats about it.
Prime: Would have worked if not for having incompetent idiots for soilders (seriously Soundwave you HAD THEM. you had the ax you could have went crazy on them but instead you chicken out. idiot)

Thats a lie and you know it. there was no idication of being called back and even if there was he could have been "In a few second I got to ax these kids a question if they like there limbs cut evenly or not" and you think ever since he took a picture of the three he would have search through earth satellites to find them by now.

I lean towards TFA Megatron. He kicked the most tail anyway. He had cunning schemes, he could manipulate followers and foes alike, he was simply the most 'super villainey' of the lot.

He may have had more successful campaigns on other series, but I just liked TFA megs better than any other so far.
