Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

m@u sketches some Transformers

Postby omega_maximus » Wed Jul 18, 2007 12:35 am

Hi guys,

Long time lurker first time poster. I sketched some of my favorite Transformers and thought I'd post them.

till all are one !!! :)

m@u

-------update---------- july 28

THREE More tranformers pencils!!!

Bumblebee in RETURN TO KALIS city of fear!!!

In 1986 my parents went to England on vacation. I asked them to bring me back some TRANSFORMERS. I had no idea if they had transformers over there. I was hoping for a awesome alternate verion of Prime or Mirage or something. My parents didn’t bring me back a toy. But they did get me an Transformers comic. It had Ultra Magnus and the Sparkbots surrounded by undead robots zombie hoards. I only had the one issue so I never new how it ended, and I always wondered about it making up my own endings. The Kalis City of Fear TRANSFORMERS comic by Mr. Furman stuck with me all these years. It showed the ten year old me comics in England were bigger than in the us. It proved Transformers where omni present. And G.I. Joe had a alternate reality in England called Action Force. Also, Grimlock answered the letters in the British Transformers comics.
So, much much later the English comics where released. I ran into them at the comic book store and finally found out how Ultra Magnus avoided his brain and spark being eaten by undead Autobot zomboids. Fifteen years is a long time to wait to find out the end of a tale.

Classics BRAWN!!!

CLASSICS BRAWN. Wait, I said that already.
In a perfect world: He would have chrome plastic parts and lots of metal parts. And a voice chip with actual audio from “THE ULTIMATE DOOM” 1984 three parter. And his face mask would go up. And he’d come with a gun. They should all come with guns. Hasbro? Please?

and Prime sketch that is really sketchy

This one is sketchy but kinda cool anyway.

Thats all for now. I have a Prime with axe one thats half done. I'll post it soon.
One day soon I'll have to do a finished not just pencil Transformer piece. :)

Sonray, Great Atlas:
Where did I learn to draw?
I'm mostly self taught. I don't have a degree. I have been working in comics, illustration and video games for ten years. So I guess just kept drawing and drawing and drawing and drawing and learned that way.
Transformers was the thing that really started me drawing ALLOT. I have a box filled with old transformers drawings I did as a kid. Pencils ,felt tip pens, and crayons.

Dead Metal: Nuts eh? Guess I'm in the right place then :)

True story. While art classes and such have their place, really it's all about observation and practice. Loads of people say they can't draw, but as with most things, no-one's gonna be good at it the first time. You need to want to be able to do it, and be willing to put the time in. Talent's a factor, but it's far more about having the inclination to do it - people who can draw, only can because they like it, and do it a lot.

Sonray: Yeah. Classes can help and are a very good idea. But it all really comes down to how much time you put into it. Keep filling up that sketch book.

Ramrider:
Exactly! Observation and practice.

Bounder: I do have an Deviant page but its old. I'm puting together a new website. I'll post it soon.

calebjensen: no, you rule :)

GrimSqueaker: Yes. Sometimes I wonder if all talent is the love of making it. You know? Talent is just wanting to create something. And then you learn by doing. Or something like that.

Thanks guys! this is fun!!!
