Well, not exactly, actually when I design transformers I tend to look more to "build" a poseable body as much as it can be possible, if you look through my other designs ->
http://www.tfmaster.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1572, you'll see that they have more or less the same joints for shoulders (side and forward-backward moving), upper arms (rotating), elbows (forward and backwards), hips (rotate), leg-to-hip joint (sorry, I forgot how to say that one xDD, they move sideways and forward and backward), thights (rotate), and knees (back and forth) ^_^. Yup, I'm used to imagine them as I were seeing the doll.
