A new auction has popped up on Yahoo Auctions Japan for a new Deluxe class figure from the Dark of the Moon line. While we don't have a confirmed name yet the rumor mill has been a turnin' about just who these SUV character are as we have seen them in some of the chase sceens and chillin with the big bad himself. We've heard the names Dreads or Dreadbots tossed around before but until we get some sort of package image or official word from Hasbro we can only speculte... and that we shall!

While the Yahoo Japan auction only shows the vehicle mode it does show us the gimmick of the figure. A huge set of Shrapnel like pincers and one of those funky looking Mech Tech weapons. Earlier this week we even saw what we can assume to be the Legends Class of this figure.

Now to sweeten the pot DOTMtoys has posted a few robot mode pics of the deluxe class resin prototype. In the images we see that the figure does indeed have "Dreads" on the robot mode and retains the large pincer like objects over his head must like the decepticon telsa coil Shrapnel.

Our second resin prototype revealed shows the underbelly of the vehicle mode, a shadowy headshot and finally what may be a transformation gimmick. It doesn't quite match up with the Ferrari 458 Italia and it doesn't seem to be the Benz either.

So who are these figures? Care to discuss just who this "Rasta Carian" lookin' SUV is? Or maybe you'd like to chat about who the new car could be? Wanna see what I'm talking about?

Interesting pics, Sir!

My money's on the pincer guy being Shrapnel. True, he's a car rather than an insect, but it wouldn't be the first time Bay took liberties with alt modes.

No worries, we were probably working on them at the same time.

So I was hoping they were calling these things Dreads, because of some sense of fear or dread they may instill when you see them coming, but it looks like they call them that because they actually have dreadlocks. Brutal.

Hmm, I'm making a guesstamation right here:

SUVs: Insecticons //At least Shrapnel, but this would account for the fact that there were several SUVs at the set.

Other car we see the underbelly for: One of the The NASCARs that we have seen. //The mold fits, it doesn't, like previously said, fit any other car that we have seen. Plus, I would be tempted to say Wheeljack, but the head sculpt doesn't fit.

It's an army of Insecto-drones! Maybe the toy designers were staying up late hopped up on espresso & watching old G1 episodes coming up with wacky weapon attachments & decided to run with it. Maybe one of the Autobots will shoot fire from their mouth ala the Dinobots :grin:

Ok this is getting really retarded now. An SUV with bug fangs ??? (like if Dropick's tailgate gimmick in 2007 wasnt declared stupid a million times)

And let me not get started on how silly the dreadlocks look. Alot of people from the hood got offended by the twins ebonics and Skids gold tooth in the 2nd film. (i thought it was funny as hell) But if this new "rasta" character is paired with a patwa accent or any Bob Marley or Ganja jokes are made, Michael Bay may take some serious heat...

Without the fangs, Dread would look reasonable, but with them... UGH. All kinds of ugly. I really hope they're removable, but in these photos they seem to be screwed on. If the Legends Wrecker we previously saw really does have dreadlocks, Dread is the second character in DOTM to have the hair style, which looks ridiculous and (if handled correctly by MB) possibly offensive on a robot.

That other deluxe looks alright. The head reminds me of Wreck-Gar, specifically his Generations retool (Scrapheap was it?). Hoping its Smokescreen, I'm kind of set on the Mercedes being Wheeljack now.

Just give me the Wreckers and that red Ferrari. I'll be so broke after buying up the Generations line that those will be the only ones I can afford. You guys can have these...creatures. Personally, I find them to be more of an insult towards the "Insecticon" moniker than I do an homage. That's just my own opinion and all it means is that there will be more of these figures for the rest of you so please keep that in mind before you jump down my throat about it. The thought of those giant pincers protruding from the front of an otherwise stylishly designed SUV surpasses the absurd and, I feel, is a stretch for even an 8 year old to buy into. I really hope Bay isn't going to include such gimmicks in the movie. This one ranks right up there with Devastators "balls".

So far, I have not been the slightest but impressed with the DOTM figures. If Generations/RTS comes to an end when the movie line begins, I'll be saving some cash.

Based on weaponry, I'd say it's one of The Wreckers. Probably the blue one based on the weapon placement and the fact that the s.u.v. was also paired with it in the legends class.

On topic, these look pretty good. I'm always blown away by the engineering involved with the movie line. Of coarse, we have yet to see any concept art or screen images of these characters, whom ever they may be, so we shouldn't be to cryptical just yet. I'm never really able to judge a bot til I see a paint job so I'm going to wait and see. I'd so like to see peaugh review these guys as well as he always seems to get the transformation right and in a decent pose. These factory images always seem plopped down rather than posed

I'll point out the obvious here...

Those pincers have to either be removable or fold away, because that guy won't fit in a blister pack otherwise.

I'm betting they'll be removable, because it sounds like they're going for an interchangeable/combining weapons gimmick a la TF: Energon.

Also, were the Jamaicans in Predator 2 broadly considered racially offensive? Because that's what these guys remind me of (besides G1 Chopshop), and IIRC they were scary, not funny.

Edit: I also think the pincers are supposed to be on the back in robot mode to form 'wings', rather than on top to form 'horns'.
