Spent most of the afternoon zipping these back and forth with some of my friends (we email each other the weirdest stuff), when it struck me that aspiring fanfic writers who like to use (ptui!) humans in their fanfics, and military humans at that, might want to spice up their soldiers with a little US military-style lingo.
One thing the site doesn't explain is the 'boot search'. When you're the hopeless newbie, part of the hazing ritual is being sent from place to place for stuff that doesn't exist. We used to send our newbies out for "flightline" or "canopy lights" or "grid squares". It's not meant to be mean spirited--everyone fell for it once when they were new, and it livens up a boring day in the S-4. But it's something you might find useful. (Torment your newbies! It's the military way!)
Anyway, site is here. It's actually compiled by soldiers and sailors and the like themselves, so some of the spelling is a little...wonky. Fun stuff to browse through. Thought you might find it useful and/or fun.
HK, I likes a good lingo.

Am I clueless? I can't see how this could possibly be a 'mean' question! Newbies normally come in batches. They can replace guys who are rotating back to ETS (get out of the Army), go TDY (temporary duty), or replace casualties. So it's a lose X amount, get X amount of newbies exchange. (Or it's supposed to be--most units rotate deployed understrength). Figure every couple of months, I think, the infantry division I was attached to got a batch of kids straight from AIT. Bald and bug eyed. Cute.
HK, we called them 'screaming eagles'.

Sorry to me so long, an average "boot" drop was about 20-30 for my company alone, so lets see, i personally got about 40 new marines and 4 new corpsman with me (me being the senior corpsman for my company).
Find me sometime and i'll blow your mind away with paintball
