I tried it when I read your question! Without taking him apart I can't even see how the plate can be removed. It may be possible to heat the metal pin on the underside of the plate with a soldering iron to the point where the plastic heats enough to be pulled off but again, that'll damage it. I wanted to take apart ROTF Mixmaster's legs but they too are impossible as far as I can tell. They do it to taunt us.

Yes, mine was very tight. You'll need a screwdriver that fits well or you'll just damage the screw's head.

How did you split it without damaging it then?

light-piping plastic part off the rear of the head with a knife.
The blue plastic part stayed on the plate as I didn't totally remove the head, however if you intend
to decapitate him then you're definitely going to have to use the pin heating method to remove
the pin holding the head as Mykltron said.
The angle of the plate means you'll have to take the torso apart as well to avoid melting any
other parts, although so long as you keep track of where everything goes you shouldn't have any trouble.
