Profile: Cruel, vicious and utterly dedicated to Megatron's ideals, Blackout could be considered an icon of true Decepticonism. He is contemptuous of the misguided Autobots and will carry out his orders without a moment's hesitation. He has ambitions for command, but only at the small unit level; he believes no 'Con is as fit for command as Megatron is, an attitude that will put him at odds with others such as Starscream.
Abilities: Blackout's forearm cannons are large-caliber slugthrowers, with a maximum range of 2km. His powerful plasma cannon is concealed with in his chest, which he uses to his advantage to surprise enemies. The cannon has a maximum range of 10km. Both weapon systems are only usable in robot mode.
His helicopter mode has a pair of missile launchers mounted alongside the main fuselage; their maximum range is 75km. In robot mode, he may detach the set of rotor blades on his back and wield it as a close combat weapon.
One of the most powerful weapons in Blackout's arsenal are the EMP emitters located in his hands and feet. He is able to transmit the pulses through direct contact, in addition to projecting them along solid surfaces (akin to lightning striking a body of water). When used as such, the pulses can travel for up to 250 meters.
In helicopter mode, he can fly at just under Mach 1, and has a range of 2,000km.
Weaknesses: With heavy armor, devastating firepower and great physical strength, Blackout has few weaknesses. However, the contempt in which he holds his opponents can lead to him overlooking things, making tactical errors, or otherwise leave himself vulnerable.
Sample Post: Blackout's photoreceptors picked out the slight shift of amongst the gunmetal wreckage. Hmmm, he inwardly computed, an Autobot scout. An excellent use of camouflage, but not good enough.
With surprising stealth for one of his size, he crept through the ruined city towards his target. Countless months of fighting had reduced it to a slag-pit filled with combatants reduced to stalking each other individually, battlelines having dissolved into simply bases of operations that the opposing sides operated out of.
Today had been slow; earlier he had exchanged fire with an Autobot but the slippery little fragger had managed to get away. He'd pursued as far as he dared, but eventually given up and continued to sweep the area; now it looked like he might have actually found the runt.
Blackout paused as he was about to make the final dash to the Autobot's position. Something wasn't right, this was too easy...
A ruby beam of energy lanced past him, within a fingerspan of his chest. Blast! A sniper?! he howled to himself. How did he spot me?! He dropped to prone, a second shot slashing through where he'd just been standing. This Autobot was a decent shot, at least against a stationary target.
Rolling to his left, he sprang back to his feet and powered through the wall in front of him. As soon as he was through it, he jumped and triggered his transformation, feeling the familiar process as his body folded in on itself and reconfigured into a helicopter. Gaining speed, he oriented himself towards where he guessed the Autobot was hidden, a building about two miles off. Loosing a pair of heat-seekers, he watched them acquire and home in on his target.
A third laser shot stabbed out and pierced one missile, bursting it into a cloud of orange fire. The second one continued to zero in on the sniper, only to be distracted by a cleverly-thrown hand-flare. It didn't matter; Blackout had traced the sniper's shot back to its source and hurtled towards it at close to the speed of sound. Just before impact, he transformed again in mid-air, smashing through the flimsy wall and somersaulted into the room beyond. Coming up in a crouch with his arm raised, he and and his target drew beads on each other at the same time. Both shots went wide as they spun out of the line of fire.
Stepping back out of cover, he didn't see the 'Bot, but heard a revving sound. Looking down, he saw a blue truck come hurtling towards him; it fragmented and then reconstructed itself into his opponent, shoulder-slamming his chest. Spinning with the impact, he hurled the 'Bot past him. As the two combatants faced each other again, Blackout saw the knife in the sniper's hand. Sweeping out his own weapon, he swung the slightly-fanned blades and grazed its chest. Sparks flew and it quickly learned, so he missed on the reverse stroke. Grinning savagely, he used the momentum of the second swing to snap the rotor blades to their fully extended position.
Hurling the blades towards his foe like a throwing star, it dodged as he had expected, but took its attention off him long enough for him to close to arms length. Seizing it by the throat, he grinned as its photoreceptors widened in fear. He even welcomed the pain of the knife stabbing into his side. With a bestial roar, he deployed his chest cannon and fired it point-blank at the Autobot's spark housing. Three times. The first shot was sufficient to do the job, the other two were for fun. Its photoreceptors dimmed as the sound of the last shot died away, so he knew it had felt all three before it had died.
Casting aside the shattered body, Blackout retrieved his rotor blades and reattached them. It was just as he was about to transform that he realized he still had the knife stuck in his side. Pulling it free, he saw it was of inferior Autobot design. Disgusted that such a thing had even scratched him, he snapped it in two.
Nearby, he heard the sounds of a motor, then a vehicle speeding off. He realized that it was first Autobot he had spotted and it was escaping. "That's alright," he said aloud to the corpse. "One of Lord Megatron's favorite tactics: kill all except one, then let it live to carry back the terror." With a savage laugh, he transformed and headed out to hunt those who would inevitably come.
Looks good. Just remember, this ain't the movie.
