Greetings, new member here and a long time Transformers fan, and I am glad I am part of a Transformers forum!!

I started reading the comics and I am far away from the current issues which are Lost Light and Optimus Prime, and I did my search for the issues released(no spoilers please!). Anyhow, I am stuck between the two and I am on the fence of which to choose. What do you guys prefer, the IDW comic run or the Covenant of Primus with the novels (Exodus, Exiles, Retribution)? Which one do you recommend or suggest I should buy and read, the IDW comics (MTMTE, Lost Light, Optimus Prime, RID, the old IDW ongoing run and the Spotlights)?

Any opinions/Thoughts?

IDW all the way here. The novels and CoP, while entertaining, collectively form an only loosely intertwined larger narrative. They're cool supplements for something like the TF: Prime cartoon series or the WfC/FoC videogames, but really confusing if taken on their own.

The novels mainly deal with the beginning of the Cybertron war, all the events are set in the past. I never bothered getting CoP, it's not necessary, just something extra to have.

Definitely go with the comics, because even though they're inferior to the Marvel comics, they are still good reads. MTMTE and RiD are the better series, Lost Light and Optimus Prime are a step back in quality stories, but still worth reading once.

While I enjoyed reading Exodus, I never read any of the other books or the Covenant of Primus. They didn't really grab my attention. I would suggest the IDW comics because it has some amazing stories and some fantastic art. I started reading IDW comics with More Than Meets The Eye (which is my favourite) and despite having read nothing that came before it, I caught on pretty quickly. There are definitely places in the IDW comics you could join on if you don't want to start reading them from the beginning.

i LOVE the so-called "Aligned" Verse.
and
i LUVLUVLUV the IDW Verse as well.

just not together.

though, there are exceptions
like Knockout on the council
still, very cool.

but dont stop or drop either.
they are worth the effort.
