Not too long ago, I was talking to a friend from this board about some new TF's I was going to pick up. One was something I had stalled on initially, and that was the City Commander UM upgrade set.
His response was that I needed that set like I needed air.
He was right - I'm not sure how I survived without him. He is awesome in every single way, especially for a non-licensed product.
My questiuon is what was the last TF you got that simply wowed you almost beyond words?

I'd have to say Cybertron Jetfire. I wasn't really sure what to think of him because I had read some negative reviews about his bot mode online. However, after taking him out of the box and looking at his stunning robot mode, I just couldn't stop admiring the...craftsmanship (for lack of a better word). Almost all of the Cybertron figures I picked up really impressed me, but Jetfire's imposing robot mode always stands out.

Re: "You need that like you need air"
Hmm, almost all of my figures I get impress me one way or the other(save Universe Ironhide, still working on the head thing, bums me out more than I thought it would), but I'd say Universe Roadbuster. I love the deco and vehicle mode, love how the cannons swivel and can move up and down, all kinds of panels to reveal non-firing weapons....
To think the original mold(which I never got) was used as a Hot Shot upgrade! Nothing about it fits Hot Shot's character in the least, and it's a great repaint.
Also, getting Dirge reminded me of just how awsome the Legends of Cybertron Starscream mold is. Barring elbow joints, it's just as(if not slightly more cause of the ball jointed arms) posable as both the Voyager and Supreme class versions. Definitely a favorite.
Sunstreaker/Sideswipe also rank up there. Great robot and vehicle modes, stable robot modes, good articulation and weapons, awsome.

There is a figure I absolutely NEED to get now. RiD/Car Robots Scourge. Living without it is like sitting in a room full of stale farts and no ventilation whatsoever. The second the paycheck comes in
it knows where the hell it's going next hehe.

Cybertron Metroplex is my last "complete awe" figures. He didn't look like much from some of the promo pics and thus I passed on him for a few years. I finally had some extra money to spend a few months back so I picked him up and I was completely amazed by the level of flexability and stability and of course his big axe. His alt mode isn't really impressive, but I rarely keep them that way anyways.

Leader Class Cybertron Optimus Prime, which I just got in the Universe two pack release. This figure is just awesome all around and the fact that you can break it down to a smaller figure is sweet.
Before that it was my City Commander upgrade, and before that it was Universe 2.0 Tankor/Octane. I love that figure.

For me, it's not out yet - if it ever will be. And that would be a Universe 2.0 Jazz.
Of the ones that actually exist, I'd say it's a tossup between:
1 ) City Commander armor (with Magnus inside, of course)
2 ) Unicron
3 ) 20th Optimus Prime
4 ) Cybertron Downshift, Evac, Armorhide, Clocker, the whole CD Team, and (Leader Class) Optimus Prime (and their repaints)
5 ) And the following Universe 2.0 / Classics 2.0 and 1.0 figs: Ironhide, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Prowl, BLUEstreak (I don't care what THEY call him), Mirage, and Henkei Megatron.

I really dig Primus - Just having a planet Cybertron was awesome to me and I think it's a great figure overall. Size matters too.
Also the Oversized Combaticon bootlegs completely blew me away when I had them. Having an Onslaught the size of a G1 Optimus is almost euphoric.

Like many others, I share some of the same figures:
--Unicron (finally!)
--Primus
--City Commander upgrade (the "other" guy just isn't Ultra Magnus...)
Most of all, though, it was systematically hunting down and completing all the G1 gestalt teams. Getting the boxed Predaking reissue, discovering what the Seacons were and hunting them down, completing those teams that I only had one or two pieces of from my childhood. Seriously, every G1 collection needs all of those teams--they're just too sweet.

Primus really wowed me.
But the one I could not believe I passed on initially, was Beast Wars Beast Convoy.
I got the Telemocha SP DX Convoy. And he's just awesome in all senses. The robot mode is fantastic, he has lots of little gimmicks, and he looks great next to Cheetor.
All in all A great figure.

these are right up there for me too. I am actually having a Primus and Unicron customized as we speak by Frenzy Rumble.
He was the guy who customized those beautiful gestalts recently.

Planning on getting that this weekend, actually. I had one, but a friend wanted it mre than I did at the time and it was still MISB and kind of an impulse buy, so I passed it off to him. Kinda iffy though on the Shadow Commander armor. It's $90 for a pre-order here.
This is what sold me on RiD Scourge -
http://www.cliffbee.com/reviews/ridscourge.php
He's a -commander upgrade kit for me, though. I'm buying it mostly for that insane shiny trailer-base thing that just happens to come with a free poseable voyager fig.

There are many figures I could speak up for, but my most recent surprise enjoyment came from getting Music Label Convoy (G1 colors). The new head sculpt, superior paint (even the stripe is painted), clear blue windshield, and tight as a virgin joints reslly impressed me. This figure is everything an updated G1 figure should be. The iPod docking station is coll, but I got this for the Prime figure and am not disappointed.
City Commander Ultra Magnus rocks my socks.
