Several months ago I was lucky and spotted the Hasbro release at a local TRU and didn't think twice about picking it up. And I knew right away I was going to keep it sealed for veiwing only due to the unique packaging. But I still wanted the MP-08X to have open and it is my favorite version.

So to those of you that got one were you happy with your choice and do you recommend it or did you have dislikes or any QC issues? My finger is at the ready to hit "buy" but these things I must know from all of you that know...thanks all! :CON:

Odd, usually people have the Hasbro version open for display and the TakaraTomy version in box :P

Have you done your research on MP-8X though? I ask because although he has the crown, he's also blue instead of black, to reflect his Marvel comic appearances.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I only have the Takara version but I loved him even though I expected to only like him. His shoulder articulation is limited but everything else is superb.

The only QC issue was that his tail would flop out of his right leg. I inserted a thin piece of plastic (cut from an ice cream tub) into a gap and glued it there. It's now stiff enough to stay put but still transformable. If you have that problem but don't want to glue it you could just slot it in but be prepared to have to reinsert from time to time.

I have a burning question: unless I'm mistaken you can't even see the toy when he's in the box. Why would you keep the toy sealed in there? Why not just open the box carefully (slit the tape) and then close it up and display it beside the figure? It seems like a waste of a lot of money otherwise.

I have both opened (one in Dino mode and the other in bot mode) and I love both of them.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I have Takara MP-08 & MP-08X.... I love Grimlock.... I rip open all.... I open all my toys, even it is a lucky draw figures...

Personally i think MP-8X will be very nice in T-Rex mode, as the silver is brighter... MP-8 or Hasbro version can be in Robot mode, as more cartoon accurate....

I think there is a small misunderstanding Mykltron but let me know if I'm wrong. I chose to keep my Hasbro MP sealed which is plenty to see through the package. So I'm totally content with that. If I get some more positive feed back on MP-08X once I have picked one up and broken into it I plan to get one more. I don't keep empty packages/boxes as much as I use to so to have another sealed makes me appreciate the box more. I may keep THIS box for the comic book look alone. Seems retarded I guess but what can I say! :P
