The tank sled really adds some punch to them but kids stayed away because they didn't look like the cartoon.

And I was one of those kids. Never got Ironhide & Ratchet due to the lack of head and generally bad look robot mode.

Everyone seems to think I've been oblivious to this, which is not what I meant this thread to be. Maybe I should've titled it: "G1 Ironhide? (rant)" Just to give a better heads up.

Ok, let me put it this way: you've posted your thought on a Transformers discussion forum. What did you hope or expect people to say in response?

Huh? They were in no position to demand anything. They bought an existing toyline and handed it over to the creative folk at other firms to develop. I don't think they ever imagined that in 25 years, a bunch of 20 and 30 yar olds would give a hoot. At the time they didn't even know if 5 yr olds would care. The line culd have ended as a complete flop and loss of money.

There is noone to blame for this. If anyone is to blame, it should be th eanimators for actually bothering to make a crapy toy into 2 awesome characters.

You just reinforced my argument. Hasbro was in the position to make thefinal decisions on the animation. They knew that the cartoon sold the toys but somehow missed the obvious disconnect between the anime Ironhide (major character) the toy.

Weapon: Sword
It is what it is. Has been for 20 years.

I like the idea of a clip-on head for Ratchet and Ironhide. Maybe Impossible Toys or Just Toys will take notice; especially with the Encore reissues right around the corner.

(Little joke there.) Anyway, someone mentioned a BotCon exclusive, will that have a head? Any pics of that or the fan-made clip-on?
