Collecting smaller figures since my youth, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of something that size is a doll. Is MP the most cartoon accurate line ? Yes indeed. Do MPs have to be so big to get the same level of engineering and detail ? Hell no !!! (my opinion, we can agree to disagree) Theyre big for the sake of being big and I hate that. Plain and simple.
Not to stir things up too much, but most of the MPs aren't that big any more. The new MP line is all about scaling the bot modes. For example, take a look at this size comparison pic of MP Sideswipe vs his Classics counterpart:

I agree with you on the cars. But MP-10 Prime, Rodimus, soundwave, and the seekers are huge. Those are important characters that will never get re-done in a smaller scale closer to the cars so why even bother starting an MP collection ? And Megatron is never going to get a proper scale MP re-release. The whole line seems kind of pointless if youre trying to build a G1 cast just on official releases. I always thought of MP scale kind of like a TF hall of fame. I dont believe takara intends to replace the classics lines with MP figures. People want more than 3 releases a year and not just season 1 fan favorites.
Yep, they're scaling them around MP-10, as Prime, Soundwave, the Seekers and Megatron are supposed to be that much larger than the Autobot cars. I see where you're coming from though, so I can't fault you for your choices. I can definitely see the advantages of having all of the bots being closer in size, especially when you're filling many shelves with them. The MPs definitely take up more space than Classics. Still, I do believe that as long as he MP line remains as successful as it's been, that Takara will continue churning out new releases on a pretty regular basis, and for me at least, getting 4 or 5 new figures each year for my MP shelf is a pretty decent rate to fill out my ranks, especially when they scale so well together in bot mode (at least according to the G1 cartoon scale charts).
That said, I've still not stopped collecting Classics/Generations so my collection definitely has room for both. They just do different things for me. I like the modern/different takes on the characters that I get from third parties and from Generations and I love the slavish G1 cartoon accuracy I get from my MPs.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I think that GetRightRobot built an incredible prototype and I really hope one of the better third parties (MMC? Maketoys? Toyworld?) picks it up and does a mass release, hopefully with a few minor tweaks to make it even more accurate to the cartoon if possible (but even if they don't tweak it, I'm still buying it if it becomes available

).
