Just curious if anyone has made a complaint to Hasbro yet over the Q/C issues of this figure. I'm having the same issues I've seen others addressing, but mainly the almost constant paint chipping when handling the figure (even gently).
If anyone has, did they just offer the usual replacement/ refund?

Re: Has anyone complained to Hasbro about B-in-S Rodimus?
Maybe I just got lucky, but mine is fine.
Also this is the first I've heard of any QC issues with the Battle in Space set.
are you sure you're not thinking of the Masterpiece Rodimus. I've heard of quite a few issues with that figure, but I'm not sure if it's the entire production run or just a vocal minority.
Paint chipping often comes through improper cleaning of the plastic before paint application. It's entirely possible that yours had some oil from the mold on the parts that didn't come off in the initial cleaning and now you have paint chipping.
Now yes, Hasbro has cheaped out on their paint as of late, but generally it holds up pretty well.
Now my question to you is, have YOU sent an email to Hasbro about the QC issues or are you part of the group that complains about various issues, but doesn't attempt to do anything about it? Not trying to be offensive, but just asking based off of a general observation of what I've seen in the fandom over the years. This thread really doesn't do much to get Hasbro's attention apart from a whiny fanbase.
What does get their attention is a mass number of emails from a large majority of people having the same problem.
I think at this point anyone in your situation has 2 options.
1. Return the set to the store for a replacement.
2. Contact Hasbro directly and seek to get a replacement Rodimus or just whatever part you might need.
Not trying to be rude in this post. Just trying to analyze the entire situation at hand. I have been gone for quite some time so I'm playing catch up with a lot of stuff. It's entirely possible that I may be missing some information and if so then we'll go from there.

Well, I'd say there would have been a better way to do your analysis there; regardless of what you say your intentions where, yes, your message did come across as rude, and a little on the condescending side, which just wasn't at all necessary, man. And, I did not appreciate the assumption that I might only be out to start a whining thread, merely because you've had experience with people who like to do that sort of thing.
You could just as easily have asked me to clarify what I was asking, without adding in any sarcasm-drenched assumptions, based on a generalization.
As I said, I'm referring to the Battle in Space Rodimus that came with Cyclonus. I've dealt with Hasbro on Q/C issues a few times over the years with different toy lines, and with varying degrees of satisfaction. The reason I'd posted this thread was indeed one of the reasons you'd listed; to see if a lot of people had taken this up with them. And yes, I too have found from my own experience of them, that if a lot of people have complained, then the treatment offered would be better.
If not, then it may or may not be worth the effort to return it. I don't like the bland brush-off service they tend to give with isolated issues, and, returning items to them or even the store I bought them from is actually quite a hassle for me at the moment.

WOW! This is the first im hearing of this issue for the BIS set, and i pretty much hang out here alot through the week, rarely on the weekend. I mean i've heard people complaining about loose joints and such, but nothing about painting chipping or coming off! I can say i've had my BIS set for about a month and still play and transform them and both figures dont have any issues of paint coming off or loose joints, and i just acquired another Hot Rod that a friend gave to me and his right shoulder joint is becoming semi-loose, but other than that no gripes about any figure with this set.
about contacting Hasbro, all i can say is from personal experience is that Hasbro wont due much about it, i know had some issues with some older TFU 2.0 figure and contacted Hasbro about it and they sent an email stating, that theres nothing can do about it, and either take the toy back to the store or send the toy to us and we can issue a refund, but they said nothing of the like about replacing the toy itself. I hope this help and i wish you the best of luck working this issue out with Hasbro. I would like to add that I'm glad to see hasbro re-issuing Hot Rod back out, cause a year and half ago, i heard the Hot Rod mold was damaged and couldn't be used anymore and there was all kinds of rumors about Hasbro not bring this mold back out, but when i heard about FP Protector set, i know something had to give and i was right.

Ive heard mention on this board and on recent TFW podcasts that there have been issues with the BiS rodimus. Paint issues and stress marks straight out of the box appear to be common, along with insanely loose joints. I dont own the set but it appears to simply be the CaC set (which i do have) minus the woeful Galvatron and i know from direct experience that my Rodimus was appaling for QA.
Straight out of the box, first transformation, massive chunk of paint chipped from the windshield where the fins had been resting.
The windshield wouldnt stay upright in robot mode, no amount of screw tightening would fix it.
Neither of the hands had any tension and would flop around, and the leg flaps were misaligned so one jutted out in robot mode, never sitting properly.
I totally sympathise, i contacted my seller and they said that the number of complaints they'd had, a replacement would probably just have some variation of the problems.

for the record im not trying to say they all have problems. Just a lot of them. Mine was appaling. If you got one that works, good on you. Ive still got my Classics Rodimus, and ive got ehobby rodimus and Sideburn later in year, so i wont bother buying any more.

Wow, I am surprised with the problems people are having. My BiS set was pretty damn perfect. Besides the garish colours Rodimus was fine. The only problems I have noticed are the stress marks on the shoulder ball joints.

Re: Has anyone complained to Hasbro about B-in-S Rodimus?
Sorry man, didn't mean to come off as condescending. The way you had worded your initial post made it seem like you had yet to email Hasbro regarding the issue, but instead wanted to ask the fandom if they had done anything about it. Those types of threads generally turn into long emo rants in which the matter at hand still isn't solved.
If you had said that you had already emailed Hasbro on the matter then my initial analysis would have been null and void and I probably wouldn't have typed it up. Sorry about that.
Well, it looks like we're on the right track now. It appears that there are more problems with the Battle in Space set than I had originally observed. Mine still has no issues so I guess I got lucky. Unfortunately, it looks like the factory that put these together were not on top of things.
If there are enough problems Hasbro might do a running change and we'll see some sets in the near future with a running change to correct the problems.

Thanks for the responses and support everyone!
@Robofreak: No worries, man. Actually, I haven't yet notified Hasbro about this issue, though I've been in contact with them over the past 2 weeks trying to sort out a mistaken refunding issue on a different product. The initial reason I'd posted the question was to see what kind of responses people were getting and if it would therefore be worth it to add this new issue on top my current issue with them.
Until just earlier today actually, I was under the impression that there could be another alternative to the usual 'refund or exchange for the same' routine, and that was...for exchanging for a different figure of equal value. I was told this twice by two different HTS reps in response to my other issue with them. I was aware of their standard policy, but given what these reps had told me, I figured that this other alternative was something they'd offer if one's issue was serious enough.
With Rodimus, if Hasbro was only going to offer people the usual refund/ exchange for the same routine, then it wouldn't be worth the hassle, since the chance of getting another Q/C issue figure already sounded high. People's responses thus far are only confirming it further. A different character figure would have been worth it, but, as I'd found out today, the two previous reps obviously had no idea wtf they were talking about, and perhaps I was a bit naive to think their policy would be otherwise than what was stated on the site.
So, my bad here for not detailing this. Ironically, I'd initially thought no one would care to hear the details of my issues with them and instead got straight to the point.
What I'm going to do is keep the figure and fix it myself, raise the issue of these other two reps giving me the wrong info, and warn Hasbro that they've got a product that could be getting paint flecks on young kids playing with this figure.

Actually, no. BIS is excellent. I think there is a 60 out of 100% chance anyone will get a QC issue, but I don't have one.

I agree, mine is fine. I'd say perhaps take it back if you still can and trade it for a new one. If that one were to have issues, then perhaps it's just that way.

Even if Hasbro is willing to help, they won't necessarily replace it with the same figure, they'll replace it with one 'of equal value'. At least this is what has happened in the past.

My Rodimus's left arm always pops off easy.
Makes me want to sell him and get another. Otherwise Cyclonus is solid and the pack is a awesome price.
