How do you protect painted figures?

Do you use clearcoat? It's sometimes advised against. Most people seem to suggest just dusting the customized figures every once in a while, perhaps more often than other toys.

BTW I'm using Tamiya Acrylic Red and Black so they're reasonably thick, heavy paint.

Acrylic sealer, found in the craft glue section of Walmart. You can also use a layer of superglue around problem areas like joints and hinges, but I find it to be too messy.

Testors dull coat (clear coat) best sprayed with an airbrush.

Well, when I painted my figures, I'd sometimes use glosser, but sometimes It can corrode the figures
