I transform one or more on a daily basis. Usually while watching tv or something.

I think you're missing the point of Transformers.

no I know the point is to transform them, that's why I have duplicate characters for... I just want one that stays like it is factory fresh, displayed, then I either buy a 2nd figure to play with, or not. im only collecting masterpiece figures now.

90% of mine are in robot mode on the shelves. Honestly, it's been a while since I transformed any of them, and it's about time I rearrange them and transform a few of them. I don't play with my toys often enough.

Depends on the figure. If it's too simple, like a spychanger, it stays in whatever mode I left it in last for a few years - and ditto for the too complex ones. But a really satisfying transform, with enough complexity to make it interesting but not so complex as to require 20 minutes, now those I transform frequently. Perfect examples would be the RID Prime Vehicon, Special ops Jazz, and those of that ilk.

Let me jog my memory a bit...bear with me.
MP Sideswipe has probably been transformed the most.
KO MP-10...never
Rest of the MPs...once
MP Megatron would need to hit the lottery 15 times in a row see a second transformation.
Same with MP Hot Rod.
The plan is to get a few KO MPs to transform, put decals on or even break and not worry about the real thing.

I'll snag a few off the shelves and fiddle around with them at least once a day.

Re: how often do you transform your transformers?
Daily. It's a big part of what I love about Transformers. I tend to pick a character and transform it several times a day for a couple of days and then move on to the next. I switch my display of 8 Transformers about every two weeks so everyone gets a turn eventually and it's long enough between turns that it keeps all of the figures' looks and transformations fresh in my head. I culled my entire action figure collection over the last few months of all figures that weren't fun or didn't hold up to expectations. It was a bit painful, but the effect was I have more room and really enjoy every minute of handling the figures that I kept. The engineering and love that goes into so many of the figures are best appreciated by transforming them. I would say that the best figures are the ones you can't stop transforming.

I transform them on a daily basis as well, usually on my commute. But after a few unfortunate incidents, I strip them of all their accessories and detachable parts before leaving. For some reason, I am transforming BH Voyager Ultra Magnus more than others.

Ummm not regularly do I actually transform any but I do when ever possible. The last 2 I fiddled with with was BH Go! Ratchet...and awesome figure IMO. The other was Botcon 20141 Flareup, another awesome figure as well.
Most of my TFs are in bot mode but some like MP Grimlock and Tigertrack are currently in alt mode along with AOE Evasive Prime (Evolution set). I admit he looks cool as a G1 homage while still representing the movie line with the flames wrapping around like.

If you own vintage or at least a decade old figure...........don't transform them anymore. Especially those with ratcheted parts. Super Godginrai gave me nightmares when the legs just broke apart.

I think you're missing the point of Transformers.
Myself, I agree with GuyIncognito. They're Transformers! They need to transform! (Well, I'll admit I almost never bother with my RTS Wreck-Gar anymore... Or the Junkheap he sits upon... But other then that, they must transform!)
That being said, your toy collection is yours to enjoy as you wish.
As for me... It varies.
Individual toys, I may pick up whenever I feel the need to fiddle with something, and transform it back and forth a few times. But before I put it down for good, it will end up back in the mode it first started in.
This is because it needs to match with the rest of the figures on the shelf it is displayed on.
But then, every once in a while, usually no more then once a month, but sometimes up to two or three months, I'll get an urge to just transform them all (or, at least, significant groups of them) to change up how they are displayed. The last major one of these I did was to put my Masterpice Decepticons into their alt modes, but that wasn't a huge project since it pretty much is just Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. (Well, and Soundwave's cassettes.)
But I am starting to get an itch again... I figure soon I'll either be switching the two shelves of Optimus Primes I have in the main room into robot mode, or the four shelves of "Classics" figures into Vehicle mode. (Maybe the "Classics" will win... I did do Jazz the other day to take a photo of him in vehicle mode, and haven't changed him back yet... And it has been a while since I transformed Metroplex, or pulled apart my combiners!)
I do also have a few shelves of figures in other rooms -- two in the main bedroom and one in the spare room -- that I touch less frequently, but more because I spend less time in those rooms, and thus those ones aren't as frequently on my mind. But they still get to transform once in a blue moon.

Once, if the figure is packaged in alt mode. I only display everyone in robot mode, and once robots, they stay robots. I know...missing the point of TFs yadda yadda, but I discovered long ago with my childhood G1 TFs that every time you transform them you wear them out a little more. Joints loosen, surfaces wear, stress is put on weak points. Not to mention paint wear from handling certain areas where there is chrome or a paint app is particularly thin or chalky. This holds especially true with TFs offered over the last decade, where there are a plethora of ball joints with translucent plastic sockets, thinner plastics, and a disappointing over-use of pin joints that in many cases start out loose right out of the package.
Time alone will degrade the figures, as I've found with items from many different lines. No sense accelerating the process, ya know?

My God Ginrai gets transformed every time I transform all of my Primes! As well as my Star Convoy and my good ol' G1 Prime. Granted, they are all reissues, so I suppose they're not like 80's vintage, but they're the same molds, and they are themselves creeping up in age.
Pulling Ginrai's trailer's legs apart to make the base mode can, I will admit, seem a little worrisome at times... But so far, no problem! (Knock on wood.)
The only vintage figure I have that really troubles me much is my Convoy Jr., not so much because of the figure himself. but because his stickers are in terrible shape and Reprolabels doesn't offer a reproduction set for this figure. So I try to be extra careful when transforming him that I don't rub the stickers too much.

Thing is, I often lose parts of or the entirety of my Transformers. Before I lost him, however, I really enjoyed transforming War For Cybertron Shockwave. Generally, it varies whether I transform them or not. Depends on the story I'm telling when I play with them. ^v^

I just got myself the toy haul of my life which consists of a bunch of popular G1 toys like Optimus, Grimlock, Scorponok and Springer. And let me tell you, these toys are the strongest toys I have ever handled in my life. They have lasted this long and I can see why (the Springer is especially nice) as I transform them. I dont fear breaking them one bit and I love transforming them. I would say it's the more recent toys and masterpiece figures which are more succeptable to breakage of wear through multiple transformations (especially MP 03 and MP 05).
