I have a Dish Network DVR that I'm trying to get the episodes of Transformers Animated Season 3 off of so that I can do screen captures on my PC for this site of those episodes. (If you missed the memo ... new screen captures are back on the site here: http://www.seibertron.com/cartoons/series.php)
I've been doing a lot of homework about this. I've read that the files are in an MPEG format of some sort. The issue I'm having at the moment is getting the PC to recognize that the DVR's SATA hard drive is connected externally via USB. From what I've read, the Dish network drive is formatted for Linux, which is why Windows isn't seeing the drive I guess. I also tried accessing the drive with PVR Explorer, per the instructions found at http://www.overclock.net/faqs/80785-how ... -your.html, but no luck seeing the drive.
I just want to get access to those files, especially since I just switched to Comcast and have to call Dish Network to cancel my account.
Suggestions? Advice?

Is there a way to burn the episodes on DVD-R that could be played on Windows PC? That would allow you not only to the screen grabs it would also let you have season 3 on DVD.
I thought you could take shows from DVRs and burn them to DVD-R (or even VHS in some cases).
The only other suggestion is get a camera and show the episodes on a TV and take the pictures that way.

I'd like to stay away from the dvd-r because there'd be a loss of quality. I've got the episodes in HD, I know they're recorded in MPEG format, it's just a matter of getting the videos off the hard drive which is a pain because it's an ext3 formatted linux drive which i'm trying to access on a windows box. can't get pvrexplorer to see it.
