I Hate Alternator Sunstreaker
I finally got Alt Sunstreaker the other day and I hate him. He sticks out like a sore thumb. With the prices on some of the Alternators, I decided to only collect the 1984 Autobot cars and Sunstreaker was the last one I needed.
I already have Sideswipe and wasn't a big fan of the Viper mold. But now that I have Sunstreaker, I can appreciate Sideswipe a whole lot more. Sunstreaker's head sculpt looks really awful and he looks ackward standing next to Prowl, Mirage, and the rest of the gang. I just really dislike Sunstreaker and feel compelled to sell him.
OK, rant aside, I was wondering what is everybody else's least favorite Alternator?

I love both Vipers in car mode. In robot mode however Im not such a big fan. Their articulation is very limited, almost as bad as Primes especially in the legs.
Looking for the Megatron gun (or just the stock) that came with 20th anniversary MP Optimus Prime.

Yup. It really looks like the Vipers belong in a different line. They really do not fit in well with the other Alternators. Sideswipe's bot mode is saved because of his head sculpt. The sculpt is really nice. But if you compare his head to the other guys, it looks twice as big.
I feel like I need to keep Sunstreaker because he's Sideswipe's twin brother but I disliked that figure so much that I'll likely end up selling him.

That is the only reason why I got this figure, I just wanted the twins.

He's not that bad of a figure. The car mode is pretty nice and the robot mode isn't that bad either. He's not the greatest of the Alts but he isn't horrible.

I only have 4 alternators right now, ravage, rodiumus, prowl and smokescreen... no least favorite even though rodimus is like my favorite right now.

Wow PrimeFan. That's interesting that you hate the Sunstreaker figure so much and it's too bad. When Dead End came out the fandom was screaming for them to take Dead End's mold and produce Sunstreaker.
Me personally, I love the Dodge Viper. It's my absolute favorite sports car with the Mazda RX-8 being a close second. I think Sunstreaker looks fine with the rest of the Alts. Since he is only one of three Alts that are yellow he may be a bit bright comapred to most of the others but he's still pretty cool in my book.
I just can't decide if I should get Rollbar and Ricochet since I'll never be able to get Rumble, Ravage 2.0, Nemisis Prime and Camshaft. Before anyone asks, yes I do have Hound, Swindle, Smokescreen & Silverstreak. Since I don't have the talent to kitbash worth crap I figure just let Hasbro do it for me instead meaning repaints!

Collection Count: Just enough G1 & Classics to make this look good!

At first, I was disappointed with Sunstreaker Alternator as well. But he grew on me. His car mode is wickedly cool. And him standing out is the whole point. He's got an ego, man. He WANTS to stand out.
His transformation, like all the Alternators I have, is a pain in the ass, but not as much. To me, all the Alternators robot modes don't look right. Their bulky car bodies hanging out everywhere, and their tiny-ass arms and hands, and weird legs and/or feet. The best one of the bunch would be Hound/Rollbar, and maybe Silverstreak.
I got Alt Sunstreaker because I like his G1 character, and I have the G1 car. Now I can not wait for the Classics 2.0/Universe version of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe!!! Those should kick-ass!!!

he always stuck out...he was so different in the 1980s. There is no car like him (G1 version). I agree that he is not the worst, but not the best in the line.

Loved it from day one (I have Sideswipe).
PLus the car is a HUGE improvement for him.
Coulda been a Mustang though, or at least a Fiero.

I'm not muhc of a classics fan, actually trying to sel mine off, but I must admit I am looking forward to sunstreaker and sideswipe classics, assuming the paint job is good and they have good articulation

i like sunstreaker's head I've always liked it and always will. My least favorite is Prime. A red truck of any sort will suck.

For the most part, they are no longer sold in stores. If you want an alternator, you have to go through an online store or ebay. In terms of the Autobots, I have all but 3.

Glad I skipped him the only time I ever saw him in a hobby shop for $80. The only reason I left him there (besides the crazy price) was because I already owned Dead End.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

I've only come across a few Rollbars and Skids in my local stores.
As for my least favorite Alternator, it would have to be Optimus. His transformation was weak, articulation limited, and his darned front bumpers keeps popping off his shoulders.
To the OP... Sunstreaker rules.

Thanks guys, I really didn't think they were still around in stores. I guess I got lucky yesterday at my local WalMart as I was searching for MP SS.
I came across Alternator Sunstreaker and Ricochet so I picked them up. I guess they were in the storage room for a while and just found and put on the shelves.

I used to find ricochet, rollbar, sunstreaker, skids, ravage XK8 and rumble at this 1 Walmart near me. They are all gone now!
I guess once that old stock is gone ... it's gone for good! Still, maybe some are laying in a warehouse just waiting to be shelved.
I also hated my alts sunstreaker at one time, so I took my knives and files to him. After modding him, I kinda like the toy now!
I have the BTA version, and while it is much better than the alts version ... dead end and sideswipe are still much better. They just seem to line up a lot better in car mode. I've had 2 BT Dead Ends, 2 BT Sideswipes, 1 Alts Sideswipe ... all were PERFECT!!!
BTA Sunstreaker, he just has his flaws for some reason. I can't get the hood to lay flush on the drivers side to save my life. I talk to another board member with the same exact problem.
Alts sunstreaker never lined up, but after the mods I did ... he lines up pretty well. I think this is due to swapping hands with alts. rodimus. Since they are larger hands ... this forces me to transform sunstreaker's arms a different way to fit them inside the rear of the car.
The added pressure from the larger hands ... works nicely!
I really hated the viper mold until I scored lambor/sideswipe. He's freakin niiice!

I actually think Prime's legs have better articulation than the Vipers...
That said, I still love my Sideswipe and Dead End. I never got Sunstreaker because I already had one version of the mold, however that may change if I like the upcoming Classics Sunstreaker.

I've seen Riccochet and Skids at a Wal-Mart here in Nebraska. That was two days ago though, they could be gone.

I'd buy him from you but the BST forum is non existant and I only deal with eBay now.
Too bad you don't like him, Im a big fan of all the alternators and was crushed when HASBRO said they'd no longer be produced.
