well, one's made by takara, the other hasbro. though i'm pretty sure they are the exact same mold, just made in different places. other than the packaging, i don't think there's any difference.

I think the Takara still uses die-cast and has the original smokestack length, something that the Hasbro has neither.

recent acquisitions: TFA Black Arachnia, Ratchet & Leader Megatron, Movie Stockade

Yes, US Re-issue Prime's have all been tip snipped. Other than that, no real differences.

All, Re-issues, be them Takara or Hasbro have die cast parts.
Encore, are just normal Re-issues. But since they are from Takara, smokestacks are full length, and everything else is as it should.
Instead of being "Child Safety Law proofed" by Hasbro.

That's always annoyed the hell out of me, eh? How would a kid be dumb enough to take their eye out with a smokestack that's attached to a truck, that can be moved, nd collapses when pressure is put on it?

i'd think they'd choke on the fists or gun before they poked their eye out. and if they did, maybe that would teach them to not stick toys in their eyes.

Its a good question. And why did we not here of such "accidents" back when we were kids? Smokestacks were long, edges were pointy, toys broke into tiny little shards of death when they fell. Spring Loaded missiles where far stronger than todays standards.
Ahh... the 80's, just a great big child deathtrap.

Yeah, we were tougher too. As were our parents. Nowdays, it's *Moves head to avoid getting hit by toy bullet, bullet grases hair, starts crying* Parent: THAT'S A LAWSUIT!
