Is there a certain character you always collect?
I have a tendency to collect certain characters and try to grab every version of them I can find. For Transformers, I am trying to snag every version of my two favorites: Skywarp and Sideswipe. Skywarp hasn't proven that hard but there are a few rare figures out there that I need. Damn Sideswipe for having a Botcon exclusive version but he's still fun to chase.
Do any of you have a character you try to complete?

For me it is Hot Rod/Rodimus/Rodimus Prime/Hot Shot figures and Prowl. I have recently strarted collecting Optimus Prime, all seekers, and Megatrons. I go through phases to be honest. Like last year I went through a Cheetor and Fuzor phase.

I am and always will be a sucker for Primes, though I tend not to go out of my way for them.
I will generally get the Starscream from any line, no matter how bad he stinks (hear's looking at you mr.womansreproductiveorgansface movie screamer).

Optimus Prime, Rodimus, Starscream, Soundwave, Megatron, Jazz, Prowl... a few others, but I stick mainly to G1 homages.

To be honest, I have tendencies to be a completist. I do my best to buy every toy in a line, bar minicons, cos they stink.
This was fine with RiD and Armada, but I'm still missing a few from Energon, and Cybertron's a lost cause. So many of the Cybertron line never saw release here, or were distributed so thinly, than I will never complete the line.
But I don't mind any more. I just want to buy Metroplex and Wingsaber before they leave the shelves for good, and then I can close the book on Cybertron for good.

I get what I like. And the less disposable income I have the more particular I will be. Though i will usually get Prime right off the bat. And if Jazz or Soundwave ever get a mold I get those. But mostly just whatever I like. Still end up with a heck of a lot of figures but I feel no need to have everything or even all of one thing.

Seekers mainly. I certainly try to get more cons than bots, but that really is hard when there's always more bots available.

Optimus Prime and Megatron. No brainers for me really. Being a completist though I would say all of them to be totally accurate

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

I'm a completist also. I never thought about it as collecting characters, but I have most of the Minibot moulds, sans: eHobby Destron Re-colours, Mexican colour variations, and Estrala's Brazillian variations.
I also need Bumblejumper/Bumper/CliffBee/Sedan.
I have all of Antex's Re-colour, G2, and 'con exclusives.
I recently found out that Diaclone had minibots in differnet colours, that will have to be on my list soon.

I collect Bumblebee stuff mostly. After I'm done with current Bumblebee stuff, I'll probably just get whatever looks cool (getting an Optimus Prime of some description will be top priority, though).

Megatron...but the damnedest thing is, I don't really mean to. I'm not a huge fan of his or anything, he just sort of becomes available, or I need him for completion, and I snap him up.
The only exception to this rule is when the EHobby reissues started up, and I paid through the nose knowing he wouldn't be TRU reissued or anything.
I didn't buy any TFs until early this year when I got into Classics, and I was able to find every one save Megatron...who I then ordered if for no other reason than to complete the set. He's shipping now.
Then a friend of mine gets ahold of a bunch of Takara bookbox reissues for FREE, and not being a fool, decides to sell them to me. One of these is Megatron, who cost me $90. Yoink. All in all, not too shabby.
MP-Megs having just come out recently, and knowing how nice he is, I just couldn't pass it up. After being ripped off by an Ebay seller, I was able to get my money back and have won a second one. Again, shipping now.
Then I start collecting the movie toys, and Voyager Megs shows up in my city before most other places. Again, yoink. I'll be getting Leader in a few days for completion purposes.
And two weeks back, I discover thanks to this forum that a local toy store has Revoltech Megatron for a decent price. One more time - yoink. I wouldn't have bothered to order him online, but hell, if he's around and available...
So that's me and Megatron. Not a huge fan of the character - in fact I think he's an idiot in most G1 continuities, but he just seems to be there waiting for me, or I need him for completion. As a result, I have 4 Megs toys, 2 more on the way, and I'll be buying another in a few days. Damn odd.
Oh, and Robot Heroes, too.
Hell, I'm STARTING to become a fan. Maybe I should look into his Titanium, Armada, and Beast Wars figs...
I'm a Shockwave fan, but releases of him are so few and far between, and having just recently started collecting TFs again, oh, the pain when I'll try to catch up on Energon Shockblast and Alternator Shockblast...and a G1 toy would be a dream come true for me. But oh, the painful, painful cost...

Starscream primarily, but I try to get the other Seekers too, if I can lay my hands on them.
