Is there any Brave/Yuusha thread on seibertron?

Postby rizuan76 » Fri Dec 28, 2007 11:08 am

hi folks!
I'm new here, this my first post. been lurking around for quite a while now. so i was just wondering are there any Brave fans around here?

Anybody into both the toylines & animation? b'coz i think they're truly a underrated line of toys from takara. i hope more TF fans can appreciate them. they are like a sister line to TF(sort of).

Ok dat's all.

Welcome.

Seibertron contains nuts!

Ahem.

We used to have a mech forum but it got canned. Any mech discussions are now a part of General Discussion. Start a topic there and I'll be sure to check it out. I love Mechas too.

If you like Brave you should check out Masterpiece King Exkaiser. It's obscure and expensive but you'll find it worth every penny.

Also, you should watch for releases from a company called CM's. They produce new versions of classic but obscure mechas. Their releases are true masterpieces. They're made of metal, they have every accessory you could imagine, they have fantastic articulation, and they just look awesome. Someday they might get around to doing some Brave Mechas.

Aha! :D finally someone replied to my post. thank you. regarding the Brave Masterpiece. i've already got the both of them: King Exkizer & Dragon Kizer. they're definitely good products, very hi-quality release from Takara, in terms of quality it's much better than the MP-03 Starscream. contain a good amount of diecast content on both figures. extremely well designed.

Initially the reason i asked this question was, i'm from the other TF website (TFW2005) there's a quite a good following for Brave down there. the Brave thread is still active & thriving. so as not to restrict my self & to broaden my horizon. i came here & register to get to know more like minded people who digs TF (& also Brave)

But if there's no Brave or mecha thread, it's ok then. maybe sooner later i try to start it somehow.

Woa, Masterpiece Dragon Kizer got released? I heard they were making one but I never saw the news that it had been released since Seibertron's news section only covers Transformers news. Which is an injustice btw since Brave and Transformers are so closely related.

Does Dragon Kizer have all the combining functionality seen in the show? And does it cost as much as King Kizer?

Hi there Chaos Bringer!
ok here are some more of my brave pics. enjoy! :D

This one is DRAGON KIZER & it was released early 2006 (March). he transform into a jet & (sort of ) w/a trailer mode. despite his size he's actually quite poseable. u can also opens up his chest plate to put EXKIZER inside. but everything falls into place when u combine him & KING EXKIZER to form a super robot mode known as GREAT EXKIZER! the combine form is freakin' huge, man! btw you can still snag him on ebay. the price range is around $89.95 to $99.90 only. this thing is truly worthy to be called a masterpiece. ;)^

I hope all the pics have answered yr queries regarding the figure.

Edit: dear mods if i've posted all the pics in the wrong section, just move them. thank you.

Yeah Brave.
I've never seen any of the shows but did read up on it.
It seems like they would be fun to watch.
I picked up Fighbird about 5 years ago and finally opened it up
just before X-mas this year.
He is awesome.
Some pics
I'm just so hesitant to add the decals.

Oh yes Figh-bird that's one the great brave. nice looking one you got there. if you can find the other robot Granbird, you can combine Figh-bird & Granbird into their super robot mode: Great Figh-bird! if you're interested to know more abt the characters & it's series, here's some link dat u might like to chk out:

1) Some footage of Figh-bird on youtube

2) Here's a link to the Brave thread on the other TF site-TFW2005. feel free to look & see. there are a lot of toy pics of Figh-bird & other related characters too. when u go to this link just scroll down & below there's a brief rundown on each of da Brave series & also pics of da toys itself.

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showpost. ... tcount=358

Last but not least since i've already posted some pics of the MP-Dragon Kizer. i might as well post some pics of the MP-King Exkizer:

Just to clarify some things a bit, these last 2 pics are not mine. it's better to give credit when it's due. they belong to Chaos Muffin of the TFW2005 forum. i just thought they are rather cool pics of Exkizer in dynamic poses & would like to share it with you guys here (man i wish i could take photos this good). you can see the obvious difference in picture quality between his pics & mine. his pics are even better.
King Exkizer
Image

This litte guy here is Exkizer. he's the true form(base form)of King Exkizer. just like Ultra Magnus who uses his car carrier when transformed into his armor. Exkizer transforms into a car while his car carrier/trailer combines with him to become King Exkizer.
Image

Here's a great, in-depth & detail review of MP-King Exkizer on the TFarchive.com website. whatever you need to know abt the toy is all in here

Yeah, Takara released it about 2 years ago. It was selling about the same time as MP Ultra Magnus.

i would like to share with all of u some rare Brave stuff dat i got recently early this month. i won the online bidding for it @yahoo auctions.sg. this is one of my Brave holy grail. it's call the Great Mightgaine perfect mode from the The Brave Express Mightgaine series. it's a group of train robots. it was re-issued somewhere in 2005 in a better quality anime accurate colors. a definite improvement from the original & add with a new cool packaging it quicky became sought-out after item. it even have lights & sounds! it was released in s'pore in limited quantities & quickly became sold-out when it was release here. the box itself is Freeaking HUGE!!!! since i've been busy this past few weeks, didn't have the time to take any pics yet. these are pics lifted from the auctions page itself. so far i've not opened the item yet. once i get around to opening it, i'll definitely post some pics over here soon.

I really like the animation in those clips.
Is there a way to pick up any of the seasons/series on DVD?
What was the best season? I read somewhere that
a few of the seasons were really lacking due to the rift between
the animators and Takara. They each wanted to take the series
in a different direction and there were supposedly a couple
less than stellar seasons produced.

How is the articulation on the MPs?
I've actually had MP Dragon Kaizer in my watch file
on ebay for months. $100 bucks for a toy I know little about
is a lot of money to spend. But then again Fighbird was like
$65. I guess that's what took so long to open it.
I was completely satisfied when I finally did though.
The plastic quality is astounding and so smooth. If only
it was a little more articulated.
It's a great robots though. If I had one as a kid I would have played with that thing till all the pieces were missing or broken. It's that kind of toy.

Hi there Discharge, sorry for the late reply. regarding the Brave dvds don't bother it'll cost u a bomb. why? b'coz each dvd boxset is included with a Brave robot inside, so the price is somewhat high b'coz of that. yr best bet is try searching for torrents of it online. dun wori there are lots of Brave torrents but u have to be patient searching for it.

Altogether there are 8 Brave series in total (from 1990 to 1997)
They are the following, sorted by year of first airing:

Brave Exkaiser (勇者エクスカイザー, Yūsha Ekusukaizā ) - 1990
The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird (太陽の勇者ファイバード, Taiyō no Yūsha Faibādo ) - 1991
The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn (伝説の勇者ダ・ガーン, Densetsu no Yūsha Da Gān ) - 1992
The Brave Express Might Gaine (勇者特急マイトガイン, Yūsha Toukyū Maitogain ) - 1993
Brave Police J-Decker (勇者警察ジェイデッカー, Yūsha Keisatsu Jeidekkā ) - 1994
The Brave of Gold Goldran (黄金勇者ゴルドラン, Ōgon Yūsha Gorudoran ) - 1995
Brave Command Dagwon (勇者指令ダグオン, Yūsha Shirei Daguon )-1996
The King of Braves GaoGaiGar (勇者王ガオガイガー, Yūsha Ō GaoGaiGā ) - 1997

When it concerns which one is the best. it might be sujective but for me it would be Gaogaigar, Dagwon, Da-garn, Mightgaine & Exkaizer (since it was the first in the series, should at least give it some credit) ok now onto some pics.

Awhile back(pls refer to my earlier post above) i got the Takara Brave Great Mightgaine perfect mode. finally got around to opening it up. here it is:

First up is the combined form of Great Mightgaine. this guy is a monster!

Image

Image

This is a comparison pics with MP-Starscream. you can see how puny Screamer is next to Great Mightgaine.

Image

Image

Next is the individual robot modes of Great Mightgaine. from L to R: Mightkizer & Mightgunner.

Image

This is one is Mightgaine.

Image

Next is all the 3 robots in their alternate modes. trains btw..

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This little guy here is the core component robot called Gaine. he forms the left arm of Great Mightgaine.

Image

Image

The last one here is Mightkizer in one of his other mode: a flight mode, a futuristic looking jet.

Image

In a nutshell this guy is fricking huge!! the design aesthetics,it totally reminds me of G1. to sum it all up, it comprises of 3 large trains, 2 small bullet trains, 4 construction/search & rescue vehicles & 1 small jet plane. whew! ok dat's it for now. :D

I empathise with you there, dude. when i 1st got to know abt Brave, i was already knee-deep into collecting TFs. it took me quite a while (almost 1 yr plus) to decide before i got my first Brave toys.

I didn't rush myself b'coz i know nuts to nothing abt them at all. so initially i had to do some background research abt the toys & series itself. :-? (were they any good? & how's the storyline?) only after sometimes then i was convinced.

So no worries there, take yr time.

Wow, that Great Mightgaine certainly looks well, great.

My personal favorite is God Silverion though. The transformation is just so clever especially the legs/waist component.

Altogether there are abt 11 or 12 pcs that came with the Mightgaine set. ok regarding links, just go to this wikipedia Brave entry. & at the bottom under external links. there are 5 sites that u might like to chk out. lotsa pics there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_series

More Brave pics :)

This next one is Gaogaigar. it's the last & the final of the eight Brave series. & considered by most to be the best of all the Brave series. it was broadcasted in 1997. this toy is not the version by Takara but instead made by Sonokong of korea. Takara officially licence it's product to Sonokong (incl TFs). so if you see any TFs made in korea by Sonokong, dun wori it's not a knock-off or a bootleg. the quality is the same, no difference at all. without further ado..

The front box cover.

Image

The back of the box.

Image

The 4 components that comprises Gaogaigar. from L to R: the stealth bomber Stealth Gao, the robot lion Galeon, the drill tank Drill Gao & in front is the bullet train Liner Gao.

Image

Image

Close-up images of Galeon.

Image

Image

Image

Stealth Gao

Image

Image

Drill Gao

Image

Image

Liner Gao

Image

Image

Now this is the alternate robot mode of Galeon but he's called Gaigar. He's the main mech in da series. in da series it seems both Galeon & Gaigar are 2 different characters when they transform (sort of). dun ask me why..;)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

When the situation arises in which Gaigar needs additional weaponry. he can merge with Drill Gao for an offensive mode. this mode is truly bad-ass. any enemies will surely be torn to shreds!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Gaigar himself have flight capability but whenever he needs to max-up his speed. he can combine with Stealth Gao for a supersonic mode.

Image

Image

Image

One last pic of Gaigar before the main event..

Image

Now here it is GAOGAIGAR!!!!!!!!! he's the super robot form of Gaigar & all the Gao machines combined. a real butt-kicking robot. Fuuh yoo.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here's Gaogaigar with one of his main weapon of choice. it's called the Dividing Driver. (kinda looks like a giant screwdriver tho ) it's a really a powerful weapon, giant city-wide craters are usually what happens when Gaogaigar used it.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here's a last one of Gaogaigar hanging out with MP-starscream.

Image

Here's a couple of footage from youtube of Gaogaigar. you can see it for yrself what an awesome series it is. a must watch for any fans of anime, for those who like super robot stuf or want to see their 1st Brave series. it's one of my favourites after Mightgaine.

At one point I woned quite a few of the Brave/Yuusha toys between 2002 and 2003.

Actually, quite a few of YF Victory and TF Zone/Battlestars toys show up on the line.

I had Dai Atlus (White Dragon) and Sonic Bomber (Red Dragon). I had a findness for the Yuusha version becuase he was a bady guy and had cool colors.

Another one that I like is Goldran, God Silveron. I had the original with the silver ambulance, whom I called Ratchet. God Silveron without the ambulance was still an awesome looking toy.

I had the original package GaoGaiGar, and King J-Der (stickers unnaplied). Drias and a cjones deluxe Da-Garn X which had the lion without the electromics, but it was actually a nice and not cheap like the Korean KO's.

Sonokong is pretty good with the remakes of the Barve toys, but GaoGaigar has paint apps that the original Takara release does not have.

A few Brave pixs. next up is the main support robots from Gaogaigar. they're the Ryu bros, twin bots Horyu & Enryu. Gaogaigar heavily relies on them & even tho they are just supporting mechs. they are equally powerful on their own.

The 2 Ryu bros to the left is Horyu (blue) & right is Enryu (red)
Image

For a toy that is made in the 90's, they are really quite poseable & are comparable even with present day TFs.

Enryu alternate vehicle mode, a fire truck.

This is the gattai (combine) mode of the 2 of them. it's called Choryujin. whenever GGG needs reinforcement & additional muscle, this is the support mech that he can always rely on.

Thanx Discharge for yr positive comments. i really appreciate it.

In regards to those two, they're really freaking huge! man. :) (no exaggerating here) Gaogaigar when fully combined is even taller than leader class OP. while the twin 'bots Horyu & Enryu is abt the same size as any voyager sized figures but when fully combined it's as tall as any Leader class sized figures.

That's the thing i llke abt these old skool bots. they really make them huge in those days. nowadays i think it's not that commomplace most probably b'coz of child safety, too bulky & other stufs. although there were exception in the Energon & Cybetron line of toys (i.e Cybertron Metroplex, Energon Omega Supreme, Cybertron Starscream etc..)

I've got new pics but the system is telling me that they can't upload them. Is this something that is a result of the crash or is it a problem on my end? How about the new animated Jetfire/Jetstorm set ripping off GaoGaiGar and the truck brothers? Methinks Takara were involved with that one.

Nope the fault is clearly due to the recent flooding & the resultant crash that came afterwards. as you can see all the pixs that i've posted before is all gone. kaput. zilch. nil.

OK I didn't look that far back. I saw GGG and the truck brothers and thought we were ok.
