I got lucky I was in Zellers one day and I just happened to find a sticker sheet of both Autobots and Decepticons with symbols of various sizes and I took one of the Decepticon symbols and applied it to the chest of the knockoff.Auto Bot wrote:Forgot to ask you, how did you make the Decepticon symbol on Megs' chest?

Thanks, man. Yours looks great too. I think only your camera resolution is a bit wanting, making the photo looks grainy and not so impressive.
What i did was minimize painting as much as possible. If i can retain the original plastics, i would work around with the paint on parts avoiding contaminating some areas.
I just use 2 brush sizes, one flat about 3mm wide, the other pointed, and tamiya paint. I don't have any spraying gadgets, so all were brush painted.
I didn't disassemble the toy, except pop out the head and removing the legs. The arm cannon falls off anyway, so i don't have to intentionally remove that. Hehe.
With regards to the chest logo, i created a solution. Downloaded logo from internet, print it on semi-wax paper, then mask with tape, and cut the tape to shape. Then attach each tiny pieces of tape to the chest, and paint away. After drying, remove the tape pieces. Viola!
Two days of work. Surprisingly. I originally thought this could take weeks.

Great solution to the chest logo I would never of thought that. Your right though it would be nice if my camera pictures were clearer but I guess thats what I get when I use a cell phone to take pictures with. Maybe I should play with my pictures settings on the phone to get a clearer picture. I know what you mean about miminizing paint application on the figure that what I do as well. Anyways thanks for the praise. Enjoy Megatron he truly is spectacular even if he is a KO.
Heres a few pictures of the Classic Deluxe tank Megatron that I modified and repainted.
This one I pretty much had to repaint almost the entire figure. Anyway enjoy.

I initially thought you repainted a Megatron Titanium. The tank looks great. Very similar to the Titanium, one of the most sought after Megatrons.
Very nice.

Icetron wrote:Hi I'm just wondering how the quality of the KO Classics Megs is. I can't seem to find the real Classics one for cheap.
Btw nice recolours guys.
Thanks.
KO quality is so-so. Not so good.
It's made of cheap plastic that is very light. Mostly hollow.
Occasionally, some parts fall off when transforming. Some just fall off by itself.
Some parts are simplified. But in a way that is not too obvious to the overall image.
Point for point, its quality can't compare to the real thing.
But it's cheap, and it looks very close to the real thing.
If you're gonna repaint it, this is a very good piece to buy. It's dirt cheap. So you won't be afraid to break it, take it apart, or experiment on some color schemes.
Overall, if you're goal is to pose it and display it, durability won't be a big issue. This KO is as good as the original in the looks department. Recommended.
If you're goal is to constantly play with it or give it to your son, then i don't recommend this. Better buy the original.

I don't know if your country allows those cheap China products to come in.
If so, try to visit those cheap shops or sidewalk vendors selling these China products.
You may find more than just Megatron.
What i did was go visit those places from time to time. It's not a sure hit. But you could get lucky. Like me.

Thankyou Iam glad you like the repaints, as far as the quality goes I would suspect it varies with the knockoff.Icetron wrote:Hi I'm just wondering how the quality of the KO Classics Megs is. I can't seem to find the real Classics one for cheap.

As far mine goes the plastic is fairly light and less durable than the origional. He seems to hold together fairly well when transforming him and nothing falls off.
The wings and cannon are easily removable which makes it nice for display purposes mine seems to be just as posable as the origional which is nice and although the overall quality isn't nearly as good as the origional he is cheap to buy.
Now as far as looking at him he is everybit as nice to look at as the origional is and after repainting him you would be hard pressed to tell the difference betweeen a repainted origional and a repainted knockoff without picking them up.
Heres a picture of an origional unmodified a repainted origional and a KO repaint.
Just to look at them would you be able to tell which one is the repainted KO and the repainted origional.
Anyone?
