Knockoff Trainbots
Do any of you folks have these knock off trainbots? hard to find pictures of them (the knock offs). Was wondering what the plastic quality/finish is like on them.. i don't like that cheap shiny plastic feel.. but otherwise.. might pick them up.

I got my set for $AU8. And I got more than $AU8 worth of Quality.
They are not as fragile as I had thought, and I believe they are much smaller than the real figures, he is about 3/4 the size of G1 Gestalts such as Menasor.
The only time I have had any issues with the figure was while trying to form them into Raiden, they were fairly fiddly and the instructions are even less helpful than the Hasbro ones.
The only time anything has broken on the Raiden form is when he "jumped" off his shelf, and snapped one of rooves of the train off, a tad of superglue later, and he is fine (albeit un-transformable.
His head is fairly loose as well, but not a big deal.
Don't pay more than a few dollars for him though, the plastic is not great, and the painting is about Hasbro movie quality.

Indeed. One of the better bootlegs.

I've seen a comparison picture between the bootleg and the original, there didn't seem to be any size differences at all. And yes, he's quite sturdy.

Unfortunately, that's the original design, not the bootleg's fault.

In all fairness, the figure holds up quite well. I'd say you just had bum luck at that moment.

I'd not pay more than $12.00 plus shipping for the set. (It's kinda rare, as bootlegs go.) I kinda regret selling mine, but it bothered me that it didn't come with the weapons like the original did. When something's incomplete and I know it, my OCD goes off the charts.
....I suck.

Thats what I thought.
The Raiden KO is surprisingly good BTW. Great quality mold, very sturdy. My only real complaint is the cheap stickers. Reprolabels needs to make a set for Raiden.

Also, wouldn't be a bad thing if someone started their own parts repro business. (I know Ken had his place, but..well..everyone knows what happened with Ken, so a replacement is needed.) That way we could have the guns, the trains and the stickers. It wouldn't be the original G1 version, but it'd be so close...I'd not complain.

I dont know if thats one of the smaller knock offs coming out these days....but the KN Train gestalt I got over 10 years ago is great and the same size as the other gestalts. The box on the one I got was a bit different.

Only complaint that I've got with mine is that he came with two right hands. KO quality control at it's finest.

The one in the box(pictured) is the same size as G1. However, there may be a new Raiden KO in WSTF size, that I don't know about.
The plastic is the same as any of the other KO boxed gestalts. Not great, but not complete sh!t.
There is not metal and there are design flaws, but it's a pretty neat gestalt from the Headmasters line.
All in all he's worth $10 give or take. S&H may be factored in.
The KO's is cheaper than G1 or Diaclone. So I say get him.

I wouldnt have to worry about shipping, its at a local shop, so maybe i'll pay a bit more, but Ihave a feeling he is selling it for $30 or something stupid like that.

There has been a few medium sized KO's that come in the same looking boxes as the regular sized KO's.I've bought the Menersour the Stunticon's and Combaticon's ko'f in both sizes and they came in identical looking boxes.

Actully, you're wrong. The trainbots were smaller than other gestalts, remember they were not a scramble city gestalt. They probably use about the same amount of plastic per charecter as the constructicons, but cuase they are trains they are longer and thinner.
As for the quality... acording to the pics posted recently in the knockoff thread on the top of this very forum, they look aweful. The plastic looks very cheap, and the paintwork is a joke.

Fair enough I have never seen them next to proper versions of the figures.

I must admit, I was rather surprised at how small they are when I got my first (and currently only) one.
For those of you who are also interested in railway (or railroad) modelling, you might als be interested to know that the wheels were designed to fit on 'N Guage' track.

Which is tiny! (We've always had "G" scaled trains, so that's why I think they are tiny!)
I also know why I thought Raiden himself was smaller than the G1 gestalts, I had the poor bugger between Tidal Wave and Energon Bruticus for 18 months!

G scale?!? Isnt that the one of the garden railway scales?
Right now (mainly due to the lack of a useable model railway) I dont do anything to do with model railways, but for most of my life I've had a OO guage railway (same track as EM, but slightly larger scale to make up for the fact trains are tiny in the UK). My dad used to do EM (sime size trains as OO, but with the wheels/track the correct space apart). Ive also got a little bit of N guage rolling stock and track which I was gonna use to build a small portable railway in my uni days, I never got round to it though.
Oh crap, this is a tf forum... erm, OPTIMUS PRIME RULES! :p
