this was my first year and i did have a lot of fun, and did blow a chunk of change....BUT, i was really hoping to find a lot of Diaclones, and maybe some Japanese boxed G1's. there was hardly any Pre-TF stuff and nothing i didn't own already. i'm sure most of you reading this don't buy this stuff and could care less but, i thought i'd rant anyway.
i gotta say that the free Matrix Optimus Prime Kreon made the whole thing worth it in the end though. and, it was nice to be surrounded by other geeks that understand my passion for robots!

Boxed Japanese G1 stuff sells out in the first 20 minutes of the Friday sales floor.
I rarely ever see Diaclone stuff at BotCon. So, it's not that you missed those things, they're just not usually around anyway.

i am speaking for myself. i definitely saw some other geeks there besides me, and it was awesome. i guess you weren't one of them and that's fine. you're just a normal non-geeky dude (perhaps jock/preppy type) that likes to hang out in a Transformers chat room. that's cool.

Considering about 90% of the stuff there was overpriced, how much does it even matter? Sure, it's always nice to see what you're getting in person, but is it worth paying way more for that opportunity? I went with about a grand I was willing to burn in the dealer room and only ended up spending about $300 (not including the club exclusives.) They didn't have a lot of what I was looking for and most the rest I could get for a lot less online.

yeah, most crap there was HELLA expensive! but it seemed like a lot of dealers were willing to bargain. and the thing about Diaclones, Microman, and other Pre-TF's is that they are always expensive and fairly scarce. you gotta get when and where you can. i figured there might not be too many there but had hoped otherwise. i did get some other cool stuff though, like the iGear Ramjet and Japanese Primus. the free Matrix Optimus Kreon pretty much made the whole trip worth anyway. i had fun and saw some cool stuff. i have no regrets about going. i had just hoped that of all the places that'd i find a Diaclone heaven it's be at Botcon.

I was pretty happy with my experience. I found most of what I was looking for(wasn't surprised on the things I didn't find) for what I expected or less(sometimes way less, like most of the Animated figs for $5 complete but loose). All in all, I came home with more figs than I was expecting to.

Agreed, if it wasn't clear, I was on billprestonesquire's side on the whole geek issue.

that's awesome! don't get me wrong, i'm glad i went and i did enjoy myself. just don't know if i'd travel to another state to go...unless it was somewhere i'd like to go anyway, like New York or Hawaii.
the one thing that i was definitely disappointed with was the induction of Michael Bay and Spielberg into the Transformer's Hall of Fame. i mean, come ON!!! WTF!!! i at least respect Spielberg for things like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws, but Michael Bay can go suck turds!!! that guy hasn't made a single good movie, EVER!!! and just because that bozo made 3 crappy TF movies doesn't mean he should forever be remembered in the annals of TF history. that's like inducting those BOZOS who directed the American Godzilla movie into a Godzilla hall of fame
