Need advice on an inherited collection.

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Need advice on an inherited collection.

Postby Sapharage » Fri May 24, 2019 1:57 pm

I recently inherited my father's collection of Transformers toys. They range from Generation 1 up to recent ones. The majority of his collection is out of the box but basically positioned on a shelf and left alone for years. I'm really not sure what to do with it. I was going to post in the selling thread but I haven't catalogued them all yet. It is a hefty job to say the least. But I'm not really sure what I am looking at or dealing with in this amount.

Motto: "Collecting little transforming action figures is the right of all sentient Geeks."
Weapon: Indepentently Targetable Particle Beam Cannons
We can help you identify them if you can lay them out a bit better for pictures.

For instance this picture:

From left to right:

Titans Return Fortress Maximus.
Combiner Wars Superion
Titans Return Trypticon
Combiner Wars Devastator
Energon Megatron (in front of Devastator)
Cybertron Unicron (yellow)
Cybertron Primus (ball in front of Unicron)
G1 Metroplex (looks like the Encore re-release, Japan)
Far back: Cyberton Metroplex

Image

G1 Fortress Maximus (Again likely the Encore re-release)
In front: Movie Revenge of the Fallen Devastator
Thrilling 30 Generations Metroplex
Titans Return Weirdwolf (in a plastic case)
G1 (Walmart Exclusive re-release apparently)Hot Rod in box in front.

Outside of that, you will need to decide if you want to sell it as a complete collection, normally difficult, or part it out, and sell it by figure.

There are of course websites like BBTS, maybe Transformerland that may take the complete collection from you, and help with the sorting.
