But people "bitching" about the Botcon Seekers is one of the most legit of the more common complaints in the realm of Transformers.

If the ONLY Classics mold for Sideswipe was going to be a Botcon exclusive, people would have every right to complain.

The fact is no matter how many G1 characters can be made from the same mold, such as Prowl into Smokescreen, Bluestreak, Silverstreak, etc.,
all of those are actual characters.
Is it too bad that those characters didn't get more distinct and individualized embodiments? Maybe...
But whether you feel that this element is a blessing or a jip, that's the way it is.
Until Hasbro has gone through 99% of the G1 characters as Classics figures, none of them should ever be released as limited exclusives.
Especially since Hasbro has said (and should) stretch-out the Universe/Classics for as long as possible.

The Shattered Glass set was a PERFECT example of what exclusives should be.

No it isn't. It's so old and tired. The Seekers were exclusives and that means by definition that there cannot be enough for everyone because they are exclusives. I don't have them, and would love them, but we really should move on. Don't we have anything else in the fandom to talk about? If you really really want the Botcon Seekers, or any exclusive figures at all, you have to be prepared to pay for them. Collecting action figures is not really a communist activity, so we are not all entitled to equal opportunities to obtain every toy.

EVERY YEAR that someone starts collecting, they automatically don't have the same opportunity as anyone who was collecting the previous year(s)...

along with Hasbro's statement that they'd like to expand the Universe line beyond the '09 movie line,
make the whole complaint about those Seekers very legit.

If they do, they won't really be classics deco.

I seriously don't believe that Hasbro truly thought Classics were "dead"... If they really did, then they're less competent than anyone knows.
I don't even know the exact number of G1 characters,
but Classics only released 14 of them in deluxe/voyager class
(I don't count the cassetticons, or the "Constructicons").
To believe this line could or would NEVER EVER come back, whether as another "filler", it's own complete line, or changed into what we're getting soon with Universe,
is just STUPID.
Now if Classics was a line that produced 50-55 (heck, even 40) characters (deluxe/voyager),
that announcement would've been waaay more believable and waaay more understandable.

And with some of what we're seeing the Universe line, that only stokes my frustration... Acid Storm could've easily been any of those 3 Seekers.

With time, it'll hopefully get more and more bearable.

I'm also the person who found out from that same guy (Lanny of TFCC) that for all intents and purposes, when the set was designed, Classics was done. There were at least 2 other people on these boards, sharing that conversation.

No, but it doesn't matter does it?
More Classics are coming out at the end of this summer.
More will come out next year.
Part of my point in that whole debate is how wrong and silly it was for Hasbro to make such a claim.
For whatever reason, people didn't have the foresight to make the same statement that was made this year,
which, if I'm remembering correctly, was something like:
The Universe line will be put on the back burner when it's time to release the TF2 Movie Line, but it will be back after that .
I also remember there being something about Hasbro wanting it to expand/and or continue.

Let's say these first waves flop beyond anyone's lowest expectations, and the line ends.
For Hasbro to make a statement that they will NEVER make Classics figures again is DUMB.
Even if right now almost half of the G1 characters had already been released, I almost still wouldn't believe that.
