No Missiles

Look at the prime line. Not a single figure has that dumb missile firing gimmick (Accept maybe the cyberverse playsets)
But none of the figures in the main line have firing missiles! I think this is a step in the right direction, do you guys agree?

Re: No Missiles
I'm not really a fan of the firing missiles myself. It can be vaguely cool, I suppose, but missiles are generally just something to lose, since I don't tend to leave them in the guns, because they'll inevitably fire off somewhere random.

I wouldn't call this a step in the right direction weapon-wise:

Re: No Missiles
depends on the figure. I think mindset/hailstorm would have looked weird without missiles . but I do get your point I have been looking for rotf ratchet's missile......though his gun does look more accurate without it.

I don't see what's so bad about firing missiles. Certainly not as bad as needing a Minicon to fire said missiles, ijs.

I like the missile gimmick, it's one of the best ideas for any toy.

Re: No Missiles
I really like missiles that fire but only if they look like a missile, unlike classics Rodimus with his fire missile. If they dont fire I would prefer them to be molded to the launcher like the Masterpiece seekers.

I'm inclined to agree that for the most part I can do without firing missiles, though there are certainly some exceptions

I don't mind the "pressure" style of missile (like RID Prowl) where there's no way for it to go off accidentally, but the spring loaded ones, most of the time, I just take the missiles out and throw them in a pile so they don't shoot off someplace where I never see them again. There are a few exceptions where they just don't look right with no missile, like the Classic Seekers mold.

Mechtech didn't involve firing missiles and THAT wasn't an improvement but yes, screen accuracy is better.

Sound effects are far more annoying. Speaker ... battery box ... all that space taken up and killing articulation.

I generally agree but do have a soft spot for Silverbolt/Darkwind/Skyfall's 'transformation' sound

I'm with Burn, molds like that one would've benefited from the extra engineering space if there was no electronics or stupid gimmicks in the way. No Transforming noise is worth that.

Missiles using the same set of standards from, say 1976 would be fine. They would be much smaller, shorter, would actually look like missiles rather than ridiculous rods, and would zing across the room with some real power!
Then our lovely American children began to kill themselves with their toys and boom, launching missiles for action figures/toys was forever f***ed.
I was there, oh yes, I was there. I was 9 years old. I remember my Dad taking one of my favorite toys, a BSG Cylon Raider, and sending it away in the mail because of some "recall" crap. What came back in the mail was an abomination. It was a Cylon Raider that had been raped and mutilated. The lovely little red missiles that I used to blast stacks of dixie cups and whatnot with were now SUPER-GLUED IN!
Over the years, the unfortunate results of this form of natural selection continued to plague the toy industry; Micronauts now came with all missiles glued in place, Kenner SW Boba Fett's backpack missile got the same treatment, G1 American TFs got missile launchers with either weak or totally removed springs, and finally, the missiles themselves were made longer and longer (so as not to be swallowed by children whose litigious parents can't read an "ages * to *" and "Choking Hazard" warnings) until they just look ridiculous jutting four inches out of a gun barrel.
It's been a long irritating ride. So I believe that yes, the lack of missiles in Prime toys is definitely a step in the right direction. It's best if they don't bother with "launching missiles!" in the US anymore.

Re: No Missiles
The only time I don't like missile weapons is when the mold has to be changed (from what would otherwise be ideal) in order to accommodate the missiles.
And I'd rather have missile weapons than the big wastes of plastic that are MechTech/Powerizer weapons.

Sometimes I enjoy launching the missiles at my fiance and trying to get them down her cleavage.

One of few good uses for launching missiles. Along the lines of cat attacks...
