So, I must admit, I hate back kibble, and even though Battle Blades Prime is an excellent figure, he still looks kinda back-heavy. Enter Voyager Mechtech Prime. Sure he's a touch less movie-accurate and has a fake window-chest, but overall he looks like a pretty decent representation of Optimus.
Except for the horrible big fuel tanks, and the ugly heat-shield/solar panels or whatever.
I know the Takara version has smaller tanks and no panels, but it comes with the trailer and would have to be imported, so that just makes it expensive. The Fireburst version doesn't really do anything for me, and it still has those terribly large tanks.
So, what are the odds of North America ever getting a Takara-like Prime, with or without a trailer? Thoughts?

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Hasbro would release the trailer, but I don't know if they would have Prime be like the Takara version.

Not great, I think.
Hasbro's willingness to rerelease characters in the same size class will depend, I suspect, on just how good sales of DOTM figures are. If sales are particularly good, they might want to keep milking the DOTM-associated merchandise. But, at the same time, I doubt there's the same kind of desire to extend the DOTM line the way ROTF got streched out. Now, TF: Prime merchandise is in the pipeline. Hasbro would much rather convert enthusiasm about DOTM into enthusiasm about TFP.
I suspect the reason we're not getting MechTech trailer Prime has to do with Hasbro not wanting a product that could compete with Ultimate Optimus Prime at a lower price point; or just that the MechTech trailer lacked sufficient differentiation from Ultimate. Whatever the reasons, I don't expect them to change as long as Ultimate Optimus Prime is available.
