At Botcon this year I bought a Car Robots God Magnus (Japanese version of RID Ultra Magnus) and I love it.
I know that this figure can combine with the Convoy (Optimus Prime) of the same line.
I also know there was a Universe version and Clear version of both figures.
My question is are all these figures interchangeable in terms of combining? And has anyone experimented wuith mixing and matching different combinations? I want to buy a Prime/Convoy to add to my Magnus but wanted advice on which one.

I've never owned any but the RiD versions. I can imagine the clear versions would look badass combined. I'm sure mix-and-matching wouldn't be a problem, since they're all technically the same mold (unless there was any retooling, but i doubt it), it'd definitely be worth trying to see how each combo looks.

I personally own Car Robots Magnus and RID Prime and can tell you that they combine with no problems. Car Robots and RID are basically the same molds (for the most part) just under a different name.
As for the electronics, though, I can't tell you how the voices synch up. I've never bothered to put batteries in either figure.

Delicon, basically find whichever Fire Convoy or RID Prime is cheapest.
The main difference would be that the Car Robots version will scream Japanese phrases at you, where the American release speak English. Just like your God Magnus.

Re: Omega Prime
Any pair will combine with no issues as they are mold identical. Get the Japanese Car Robots Prime though. Hearing him yell in Japanese is just priceless and he is the same price MISB as the RID release. Search seller Liqdeal on ebay. If he has it, (he sells a lot of Sonokong Car Robots), it will be the best price.
The clear version was a JP TRU exclusive and includes the master sword. Runs pricey though, around 300-400 I reckon.
There is also the Sam's club exclusive from the universe line that features a yellow prime that is pretty kick ass but also will run you a decent chunk of change.

As every one has said they are pretty much interchangeable.
The only noticeable differences will be the Voice bits. Even the R.I.D. Prime has the Japanese writing, and the "Fire Convoy" writing on his tires to match the Japanese Car Robot's versions.
Since you already have the Car Robot's Magnus, the combined sound bits will be in Japanese as Magnus is the one that carries those sounds.
So it comes down to weather you want your Prime to scream in English or in Japanese.
by the Way the Combined Mode of Omega Prime gets I think 3 more exclusive sounds. "Optimus Prime!, Ultra Magnus! Combined" A firing sound, and the big tamale: "Omega Fire!!" and accompanying explosion.
