...Sorta...BBTS has up for preorder the 25th anniversary reissue of the VF-1F figure. I guess this will be the closest we'll get to a G1 Jetfire reissue?

Its probably trhe closest thing to Jetfire will get. and 89.99 for one of those is pretty decent. However I'm afraid of the shipping costs from BBTS.

Still I might just pre-order it. Seeing this is as close as I'll ever get to owning a G1 Jetfire.

I wonder if they could actually produce a red one similar to G1 Jetfire obviously without any insignia. Then it would be only a matter of getting repro-labels for it.

I was thinking about pre-ordering it too, it sure looks nice.

Then I thought about it. The last thing I need is more plastic crack. As it is I spend way to much money per month on Transformers, Star Wars and G.I. Joe.

I preordered one. Mostly because I'm a Robotech fan but it won't hurt to have G1 Jetfire clone. My original is in really rough shape.

The Toynami MP you mention is about the same size as the Bandai, but it really feels fragile to me. I got one and was a little disappointed, plus no accessories. If you can't find a Jetfire, buy the 1/48 Yamato versions... they have ones that come with all the accessories and are just awesome.

Jetfire is actually a VF-1s from Macross: Do you Remember love Movie.

Hikaru(Rick Hunter) gets a VF-1S with the exact same colors, red/black stiping after Roy dies, he becomes the skull squadron leader. Also, there is a blue/black striping from the movie that Maximillian Jenius gets which is also a VF-1S.

People seem to think that Jetfire is Roy's Valkyrie, just painted differently, when in fact it is Rick Hunter's VF-1S from the MAcross movie with the Macross Series Space (thruster) pack. In the Macross movie, they use strike packs, where one thruster has extra guns placed on it. Never used in the Macross TV series though, I wish I knew why.
In the Macross/Robotech series, there is the red stripe on Rick's VF-1J, but that's becuase in Macross, the "J's" were for squad leaders only, and wern't produced in many numbers, like the "A" and the "S".

Also note that the original valkyries from Macross wern't produced my Bandai, but a company called Takatou or something there of, that produced the toys. Some of the early Jetfire molds still have the Macross/EDF symbol on the wing. Those are rare, and will cost you lots of dough.

I believe the true reason they haven't made a G1 re-issue is becuase over the years the licenses have changed, and the Bandai 1/55 scale is Jetfire. In fact, there is a Hikaru special form the movie, with the same colors, but a different strike pack as well as the dark navy blue for the strike pack. I say just paint the stirke packs red.

My sentiments exactly! I can't do much with my Toynami MP but display it. The magnets don't hold the legs in jet mode, especially if the armor is on. And the plastic is way too thin, you have to be really careful with it.

My first thought was cool another great re-issue, then it went to damn more money to spend then d'oh he pulled a fast on me. Final thought whew "I get to save some cash".

Great toy.......for Robotech. At least it wasn't an April fool's joke. Jetfire is very popular - what's the hold up with a G1 reissue??? And Shockwave for that matter? I'd jump at the chance to get reissues of those!!!

Any 1/55 Bandai Valkyrie is pretty much the same.

Takatou = Bandai-----> Hasbro

Takatou was bought out by Bandai, but the mold was liscenced to Hasbro.

a few years back Bansdai did a mass release of all the 1/55 scale valkyries.

In the Macross movie, Riack/Hikaru gets a VF-1S with the exact paint scheme. But the Fast pack different and called a Strike pack, in whic the colors were dark blue, now I can't find it.

Max Sterling also has one from the movie that has the black and blue stripe, and the strike pack.

My original Jetfire's no more fragile than any other figure of the era. The small tabs on the armor are easily breakable if you're not careful, but then so is MP Megatron.
