Probably has to do with plastic color layout. For instance, if that hinge were to be cast in grey plastic, other pieces on the same sprue would be too.

Well, it makes sense, but, would it be so hard to paint that?
I mean I understand when they leave things unpainted, but it tends to be at least the same color, the red there really hinders the look :/

I think takara used the ROTF buster mold for DA-28 Jetwing prime with the newly remolded 6 packs abdomen.

Now it appears takara MIGHT be using the jetwing prime with the 6 packs abs minus jetwing for the DA-28 Striker optimus prime toy. I'm guessing the jetwing armor can attach to stealth striker DA-28 optimus prime. as the connecting tabs/ports are probably still in this toy mold.

I really love this DA-28 striker optimus prime & if hasbro releases it then i'll buy it. it's pure awesome.

Again,no Jetwings compatibility,no deal. I really hope for Takara's sake that this DA 28 Striker Prime would at least have the option of removing the smokestacks to accommodate the jetpack from Jetwings Prime.

Neither. Still Buster. (Both this guy and Jetwing are pretty cool. They're just not sporting Masterpiece paint jobs.)

You're missing the point: There's no "Prime" in the name!

Striker is a cool figure. However, he's not the figure to eclipse Buster that a lot of folks were hoping he'd be. His paint job just isn't good enough.

Jetwing has in its favor that it's the most movie-accurate representation we're probably going to get of the winged jet pack used in DOTM. But the figure has an over-the-top quality to it that's really only outdone by the sheer ridiculousness that is Ultimate Optimus Prime.

Striker dials it back a bit and manages to be quite potent looking without completely eclipsing anything else within three feet of it.

Struggling to disagree with this.

I reeeeally like this. After seeing all the shield designs in the concept art (and he only used one...what? maybe against shockwave at the start?), I very much wanted an OP with a shield. The fact that it doubles for a sort-of stealth-forcey bit is even better.


Won't be able to get it unless it hits the states though. :/ I'll just admire it from here.

This actually looks pretty friggin' sweet, but sadly there's really not much basis for it beyond hypothetical stealth mode or maybe video game inspired (havent played DOTM.) These days there's gotta be more to it than 'looks cool' to drop $100+ on a fig...especially a repaint/remold.

If we do get a Leader Prime, this will be it.

It uses the Hasbro base figure, anyway. With the shield and gun, it becomes a Mechtech figure. At the $45.00 price range, I'd say he could be released in the US, with minimal paint apps.

Does anyone remember that Wal-Mart display? Something about battle of the Primes or something to that effect...

I wonder if Hasbro is telling us the truth, here. DOTM IS ending, but the Primes thing as a spin off, will begin? (NOTE: They mentioned nothing about a spin off, I'm posing a question at the same time. Edited for clarity.)

If that's true, then the rumors of Megatron and Shockwave, plus a Dino release, might just be true. That would be a perfect time to release this guy in the states.

This is just too corny for me. I enjoy Optimus Prime, but his character, specifically in this universe, has been milked for far too long.

I actually really like the look of this, in either Alt mode or Robot mode. I do believe I am getting this one.
